how to: play nintendo 64 games on your computer! and get any game you want!

welcome to my first guide

ever wanted to play those old classic N64 games from when you were 6 years old? well you've come to the right thread.

first: download project64 from http://www.pj64-emu.com/downloads/func-startdown/34/

install the program then run it, it should look like this.

wait, what now? you dont have any games, correct? well, i'll show you how to get some of those awsome origonal games!​

ok, so go to www.coolrom.com and search for a game that you know, or remember. i will use 007 goldeneye as a example. search "goldeneye" in the search bar and it should pop up. click it then you will see this page

click on "download your file" download it, then put in it a folder (i prefer you make a folder for all your games so you can easily find them) then open up your project 64 application and click file>open rom> then find the rom, and open it. (WARNING: do NOT unzip the folder, because it will not work if you unzip it. the game should load. and there you go! you can now play N64 games on your PC!

So you taught us how to download two files? I think the guide is relatively straightforward, but I'll give it a 5/10 because it's nice and easy to follow, with pictures for clarification. Only thing: it's illegal to use ROM's of games you don't actually own, so I'd just recommend adding that in.

I tried making a guide on this before, turns out its considered an illegal subject, even if you own the games, and that you can likely get an infraction for posting this. You should probably remove the guide.
I'm not trying to backseat mod or anything, I'm just saying that I was in that situation, and I'm trying to warn you.

 

No, it's 100% legal to download ROM's if you own the rights to the game, in the US, UK, Australia, and Spain (those were the 4 countries listed on the source I used -- see my previous post). There are many legal uses of ROM's, such as playing online multiplayer and backing up your games. Many times, the gaming companies even release their games as ROM's after a few years [Zelda]. And why do you have Viper's sig and stuff? Lulz

I'm quite confused, how is this really a guide? All you're telling us to do basically is download stuff. 1/10, unless you explain more.

 

I agree with Rawr, just telling us how to download the program isn't a guide really.

These are just some ideas, but try explaining the Client, and what it does. Then go into a little detail on how to use / run it perhaps. Also, you could probably explain CoolROM and what they do, and how to navigate to the ROM files for the game(s). It's relatively easy and wouldn't take to long at all. Plus, it would make your guide quite better in some ways. NOTE, these are just some of my ideas. Try coming up with some more you think would suite it.
