As for the guide itself, you could have just put "www.faceyourmanga.it" since the rest is basically... basic.

Yes, I would have said that myself if I saw this guide. However, you may have noticed the *request* part? Somebody said they were having trouble making it look cool, and having it blend with the Sythe background, so I just briefly included that in the tutorial. This wasn't meant to be something special - I made it by request (through MSN), and while the www.faceyourmanga.it instructions seem pretty self-explanatory to most, as they should be, somebody was having difficulty with it (after finding the site), so I felt like walking them through the process I used to make the avatars. Mhmm? I didn't paraphrase anything found on Google, and I added my own insight by teaching them how to make it blend with the Sythe BG - as well as including some uses of it on these forums.

 

Basic, but still quite helpful. I hear some people saying things like, you could have just put faceyourmanga.com, but I think if he did you would demand examples and more detail. 8/10 I liked it! If you want you can add my avatar to the examples, but idc either way. Good work!

 

Oh, so it's okay to make a basic guide as long as someone requests it? Alright, thanks for the information. So next time someone asks for a guide on how to use Google, I'll definitely make it.

Btw, I'm not against this guide or anything, but according to your own words it shouldn't be in existence.

 

If somebody doesn't know how to use Google, why not explain it to them? And come on, you know this is an exaggeration. Creating an avatar like the examples is not *that* simple - a few people couldn't get the backgrounds to erase, or figure out how to make the background be the same color as Sythe, etc. Why wouldn't it be okay to help somebody out if they don't know how to do something very basic? That's what pre-school is for, no? If you know that your guide will help at least one person, because they couldn't figure it out otherwise, why not make the guide?

If somebody PM'd you saying "I can't figure out how to use Google, please help me, I've tried everything but I can't figure out how to search!" Why not spend 3/4 minutes to help them out? That's basically how long this guide took, minus the video.

 

Exactly my point. Then why do you go around flaming all guides that actually help some people, calling them pieces of shit? (Just because you already know it)

 

I don't flame BASIC guides. I flame guides that don't add ANY CONTENT over a guide you can find on Google.com. If you can find me a link on Google with a guide that has the same information as this, I would *gladly* edit this guide and replace it with a link. If you learned something, you generally must have learned it from someone else - so however basic it must be, it's almost guaranteed that you have had experience with something just as basic before. If a link can replace your entire guide, because someone already created a guide just like yours, then just post the link.

 

Well I won't be able to find this guide on Google, because it's so simple no one even makes a guide out of it... I'm pretty sure if you sent the link to someone, and they knew how to read, they'd be able to figure it out.

Isn't posting just a link against the rules btw? If not then I can post thousands of links to guides.

[EDIT2] Found tons of websites that have guides on this, but they don't tell you how to change the background color to Sythe's background. I think you should take out pretty much everything except the link, and what numbers to put for the Sythe background color. Btw, it looks bad if people are using the new Sythe skin so I'd suggest you use Photoshop and make the background transparent instead.
[EDIT3] Why not just cut out the piece of Sythe's background, use the color copying tool on Paint, and then use the paint bucket? That'd be much simpler.

Anyway, here's how your guide should be...

1. Go to http://www.faceyourmanga.it/faceyourmanga.php?lang=eng
2. Click "Create" as shown below.

3. Select Male or Female, and customize it.
4. DO NOT CLICK FINISH. They will spam your e-mail with ads. Simply press ctrl+ prtScn, and paste it on paint. Crop it out, paste it again.
5. Go to Sythe, ctrl+ prtScn it, and cut out the color on the Avatar Bar.
6. Use "Pick Color" on paint to copy the color of the Avatar bar on Sythe.

7. Use the paint bucket, and color the background color of your Manga to Sythe's color.

How do I know they spam your e-mail? Under their Privacy (Which is in Italian) it says.
1) PURPOSE OF DATA.
Under article 13 letter a) of Legislative Decree mentioned, the collection and other processing operations are carried out by the data for the following purposes:
a) advertising;
b) sending information and promotional material;
c) sending communications;
d) statistical analysis;
e) detecting the degree of satisfaction of the products / services offered by the service;
f) sending invitations for events and promotional information;
g) compliance with legal obligations.

 

That is basically what my guide is...I do tell them that if they want to use the new skin, they can use the EYE DROPPER tool to pick the color, then use the paint bucket tools...

Anything wrong with adding details? Didn't think so. Anyways, can we move on with it? I *understand* this is a shitty and simple guide, hence me posting: "This is a nice and simple guide I put together in about 5 minutes because somebody asked me to make it for them" --> I later edited this to "EDIT: Adding pictures and colors, because people seemed to skip the part where I said it's by request."

It's not hard to ignore everything except the "Go to this website" and the "Change the background color to this: ____" -- the rest is just for clarification.
