How to Jumpstyle

This guide will teach you the basic moves and it will also teach you how to start your own routine.

Jumpstyle is more than just jumping and swinging your legs back and forth. Jumpstyle is what the music makes you do. Normally, Jumpstyle is used for mostly Techno music. Jumpstyle was made famous here in North America by a man called The Gold Inferno.



He was on the show So You Think You Can Dance, where he showed the world his unique style of dancing.

Starting off...


To start off, the best thing you can do is jump. Just jump in the air and get a feel for jumping. Some of the best shoes to jump in are Airspeed(Cheapest), Converse, and Puma. Once you get a feel for it, start stomping. Jump into the air and stomp onto the ground. Do this 4 times. You just learned how to begin a routine!

Another way to begin a routine is to stomp twice, then bring your left foot in front of the right, and then vice versa.


Base move.


The base move is the move you HAVE to know to be able to jumpstyle. This move is the most basic, and every trick you do will always begin with this move.

To do this move, kick your right foot twice, then bring your left foot up and kick once, bring your left foot back, and then bring your right foot back. Although I can not make words detailed enough, this is why I have a video from the Gold Inferno himself on how to jumpstyle.

Variations of Jumpstyle...


There are many different variations of jumpstyle, and all this diverse jumping dances include their own style and unique moves.


Oldskool jump: Was based on the first move that was used in the dance called 'skieën'. Later a certain standard routine came that was a combination of kicking forwards and backwards both legs on the basslines; even later certain moves came such as a spin.

Tekstyle: The jumper dances to French tek or Hardstyle. The jump is more sidewise than the others

Hardjump: This is the hardest variant of Jumpstyle. The basic step is different from the others and the jumper has to pitch hard on the ground.

Freestyle: With this style, the 'jumper' does whatever he/she feels like; there are no specific restrictions of jumping and it usually involves a mix of Oldskool Jump & Hardjump & tekstyle.

Duojump: Jumping with two (or more) people at the same time; usually the people performing the Duojump have practiced it before performing it, since they both do exactly the same routine and try to synchronize it as much as possible.

Yeah Im looking for good pictures now. I don't have a camera to work with so I can't take pictures of jumpstyle myself so I have to get lucky and find some.

 

Tbh, watching a video may be easier to learn Jumpstyle/Jumpen.

And btw, i can do it.

 

Watching a video is definately easier. I have been jumpstyling for 8 monthes, and I have 4 different routines that I practice weekly, and Im working on Hardjump moves right now so I can mix the two. Like I said, watching a video is easier, and that is why I included an instructional video from Gold Inferno so people(Beginners AND Ametures) are able to learn.

Idk Ive been looking Ill get some up sometime in the next few days.

 

I'd like to see a vid of you doing it. I watched Gold Inferno, he didn't seem that good compared to the others I found on youtube. Personally, I'm sticking with the party-bot , but I might learn this too, looks kinda fun and probably keeps you in shape.

 

This style looks random as... I prefer Shuffling any day. ^_^
