Trader System

I have searched for this and couldn't find anything quite like what I am proposing so here it goes.

I propose we have a system that when you complete a trade the person you traded can add one point to your trader score, and you add to theirs as well.

Now you might say: "What if people abuse this system with their friends."
Well my solution would be that you can only add to a persons trader score when you post, and if you add to someones trader score in a post it will show on the bottom of that post that the user has done so. That way sythe users can report people who try and take advantage of this system.

Also everytime you add trader points to someones profile there is 3 checkboxes that say: I went first, He/She went first, We used an mm.
If you went first and added to their trader score they get +3 trader points since you went first to them. If they went first they get +1 trader points, and if you used an mm they will get +2 trader points. This way people will be encouraged to use an mm since this will gain both parties an equal amount of trader points, thus leading to less scamming. And if you go first all the time this system will keep you in check by not giving you as many points as if you used an mm thus actually precisely portraying your trust level.

I think this would help encourage people to use mm's, as well as show new users and veterans alike at each persons trust/trader level.

This is a lot different from a rep system because you cannot get points for anything but trading.

well this isn't really currency? But if you are referring to currency as rep/points then I guess this does fall under currency.

 

Reputation and currency are basically the same thing.

eh never heard of it, but I guess it might be. But the whole part on how many points per trade is pretty genius if I may say so myself.

I kinda Agree with what he is saying. It would give a good chance for what traders have to say about that person.

 

iTrader was implemented on Fagex.net and it bombed terribly, even with the low userbase it had at the time (~5k users)...people would simply proxy in, spam a bunch, fake a few trades and bam you're 'trusted'.

Now imagine the chaos of that on a 25x scale.

Surely there is a way to circumvent that problem. I would be in support if we could work out the kinks involved as Tgump suggested.

 

Yea what this would do is people would probably start buying these and it could go way outta hand.

However I do support the idea of having an iTrader.

 

So then, let's say a noob who wants to scam, get's like 100 people done tutorial island for free, and get's +300, then goes out and scams someone. On the other hand theres a hard working person who's done four high level (10m+) trades and has +12 trading points, but no-one will trust him because his trading score isn’t that high. Don’t get me wrong, I really like your Idea I do, but it need’s to be carried out differently.

 

that is why I propose that tutorial island is strictly prohibited against gaining any points. Because it is a pointless kind of thing. There is no trust or risk in someone doing tutorial island for you. Yet if someone is training an account that has a lot of money has a lot of risk and gets rewarded with 2-3 points of trader score.

 

There would be no way of making sure no-one did this though. They could just "pretend", or help out friends. Think of some way of constructively fixing this problem and I will support your idea.

 

Alright then by your logic snowboard-ninja we should just remove the whole black market since we all know there is a lot of scammers there. Trading is about trust and that trust can always be broken as it is the users choice. This system can be beaten, but it is up to the users not to abuse it. Just like it is up to the users not to scam. Yet it happens and if sythe ever adopts this system it will be abused I know, but that's just a part of life.

This system will help deal with a much bigger and ever growing problem, scamming, and if this system is abused (which would take a while and is probably not worth the effort) you would still need post count/vouches to go along with that.

Also isn't vouching the same thing? It shows user trust based on trades and people abuse that as well, but some get caught and are banned. But as I was saying this itrader system is better because it is more "static" so to speak and will be for the greater good in the end.

 

The problem with this is too many people give vouches for the wrong reasons. Vouches from people because they 'know' them. Vouches because they gave out free names. A vouch is a sign of trustworthiness; saying 'hey, I trusted this guy 100% and he didn't let me down' NOT 'hey, I didn't trust this guy at all but I gave him a vouch anywayz lol!111shift'
