Teen takes own life via webcam- Sad story

I just saw this news story on CNN last night about a 19 year old named Abraham Biggs committed suicide via his web cam that was streamed live on a popular live-stream site called Justin.TV
Biggs took an overdose of anti-depressive drugs, but remained comatose online for hours before he died. Biggs posted threats of suicide on the forum on Bodybuilding.com on Wednesday and died Friday night.
Viewer's watched Biggs web cam feed for around 10 hours, some saying "do it" and heckling him, while not one person contacted the authorities until he collapsed. Many people are saying the site and the viewers are at fault for the tragedy.

This incident really makes me think now about when people say they might kill themselves online, sometimes they really mean it.

I read this yesterday I think... Anyways I wonder how many of these people will be put in jail.

 

Who cares? He chose to do it, HE made the decision, why should anyone help him?

 

I saw this guy on BB.com he made like ten threads a day threatening to OD, he was just an attention whore, sorry no sympathy from me.

Suicide is completely idiotic, completely uncalled for and just plain stupid.

its not the viewers fault they didnt do it HE did.

 

people have reasons for commiting suicide, i actually had a few close tries with it too. i think those anti depressants made him even more depressed which caused him to do it

Terrible. The people that encouraged him are bigger idiots then he is. People get enjoyment from watching someone kill themselves? That's sick. Either way, the guy must have had problems or he wouldn't have done this regardless..

 

Did I say he was bud? This is a forum, a forum where people post and reply to different subjects. Instead of getting all pissed off about something you see on this site, don't post at all and go write a story to your local newspaper about the hundreds of people who commit suicide and that you got mad at at some guy for making a topic about a web cam related suicide. No one will give a shit about it, just like I don't.

 

hmm sounds sick people view and cheer him on to do it. But in my eyes, people who commit suicide are just stupid and selfish leaving the people that care for him behind. Sick people watch it though..:S

None. It's called the Kitty Genovese syndrome. Everyone thought somebody else would report it. You can't arrest anyone in particular? I can say "dude, kill yourself!" but I'm not to blame unless I do something to actually help.

Anyways, meh - what a moron is all I can say to this Justin fellow. Posting your death on Webcam doesn't make you any cooler. And yes, the people who watched were pretty fucked up, not gonna lie.

 

I heard about that as well, just saw the end of the video on the news where the cop comes in. It has it's good and bad points when you think about, the bad point being that he didnt talk to his relatives about what he was feeling, to prevent himself from going down that road. The good point is that its once less cabbage dropkick sucking up air and food.

 

I don't see how people can come to committing suicide, its a foolish action, and it can be stopped.

 

I heard about this and there was a poll and 87% of people said they would have called the authorities..... Yeah right.

We have had suicide threats here. Next time we should call.
