    Most effective OS

I'd say that Windows XP is by far the most effective Operating System. There aren't many bugs with it anymore since its been released for so long, unlike Windows Vista. Also, Windows XP has so many tools that you can use to optimize your computers performance. For example, I use Glary Utilites and it cleans up around 400MB of temporary files every day, while it fixes registry and shortcut errors. So yes, my final ruling is: Windows XP

Just cause an operating system has been out longer doesn't necessarily mean it's the most effective or that it has the least bugs. And if an OS needs a program to "optimize" the system then it's obviously not the most efficient (especially if the OS is making registry errors, or even has a registry to begin with lolol). >_<

I'd have to disagree with you. SP2 is a lot more effective. Sure SP3 had a few minor bug fixes, but a lot of the security components that come back in SP2 seemed to be weakened when SP3 was released.
