Lets say there was no God.
When we both die, there will nothing.. we will have no consicous being.

Now lets say there is a God and you were wrong..
You would go to hell... and people that believed in God would go to heaven.

Either way, you seem to have the short end of the stick.

This is called Pascal's wager or something. You should believe in god because it's the safe bet. I'll wait for Shredder to post though, knowing my debate skills, I'll end up failing :'(.

It's true. But the argument that the atheist brings is that why should they believe if the only way God can make them Christian, is to scare them?

Religion is not for people to be scared into believing. It is about having a relationship with God.

Now this may sound a little strange... but just imagine just for a second that you were a God. You had power over everything and you could control time and space just by speaking. You created a universe and one planet with life on it.

The goal of this was to have living beings that will look to you for guidance.

This would be the kind of relationship a man would have with a dog (not saying that you are a dog…)

You wanted people to believe in you, but you didn’t want dictatorship over the people.

Now for a new topic… Heaven and hell.

God created heaven for the purpose that people that believe in him could spend eternity with him.

If everyone could go to heaven and not live a godly life, then what would be the point?

    Plain and simple..

Hell is a place where you will go if you have chosen not to believe and you will have that fate as a punishment. (Kind of like a parent. If the child does not obey their parent then the child will be punished in some manner.)

Heaven is a place believers go when they die as a reward for believing.

Pascal's Wager. The flaw with this is there are so many different Gods, picking one would be downright silly.

Ok i'll take a shot at this before Shredderbeam shreds it up.

Lets say that god does exist, lets say we both die. If god exists then more than likely everything said about him is true too. Therefore the all forgiving god will forgive us. Apparently its a sin to worship a different god, so aren't we taking the safe bet by worshipping none?

    You think about this shredder?

Why are you turning this into a debate in the spam forum?
The all forgiving God, would only forgive you if asked for forgiveness, but it would be a tad late when you're dead, and have already gone to hell wouldn't it? (It's not like thiefs steal something, came in jail, and then said, I'll give it back, and then he walked free again).

How is it a safe bet by "worshipping"(your words) nothing?
All in all, if you're wrong, you will go to hell anyways.

    You think about this shredder?

    Fail argument is fail.

You presume that believing in God will get you into heaven.

You presume that disbelieving in God will get you into hell.

You presume that there is either no God, or Yahweh (ignoring the infinite possible Gods).

You presume that I can change my belief, just like that, "just in case".

Also, holy shit, why are you acting as if this is some new piece of logic that has only just come to light? You think that I've never thought about that?

    Facepalm.

Oh, and something else: This could only ever be an argument for believing in God, not that God actually exists.

    You think about this shredder?

There is proof that jesus existed.

    The bible is historically correct.

Ancient lost city that have been hidden from the world have now been found because of people using the bible.

Besided the stupid people who made their own gods and worshiped them, Christianity was one of the first religions.

I am not a Pastor nor do i have a vast knowledge of the bible. I just a 16.

I am not trying to convert you either, but just wondering what your responses to what i have to say will be.

    You think about this shredder?

    What proof?

So being historically correct in some places implies that it's 100% correct throughout?

Fail. No it wasn't. Paganism, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. were all there beforehand.
