Tanking or 1 Def

My pure is currently 63 range, and 1 def, 45 atk, 44 str. I am wondering if I should tank. And if so, what quests should i do to gain the required level.(40, 43, 45; this is for short-term).

1 def pures usually get raped more then tanker

you get raped more if you're 1 def, but you'll do a lot more damage. I kept my ranger at 1 def hoping that jagex would actually do something similar to old wildy, but when they didn't it's a lot better to get your def up

 

Do Dragon slayer and other quests to get def up while training it regularly also. And get your str up more so that you can Range/2H, unless you're gonna be P2P because then you can have specials and things to hit high with..

 

I personally like pures, pvp isnt too bad for 1 def. If your going to get def just do the basic quests first, d slayer, fremmy trials probably should do mm for the xp and a quest in rfd that involves def xp i think nature spirit

Meh Id recommend getting the def levels after maybe 80+ range but watever your choice.

 

i just finished drag slayer on my range pure, will be finishing MM shortly for 40 def!

 

I would stay 1defence for a while until you get your stats up higher, then maybe consider changing.

 

Tanks are bad unless your rich, if your rich tanking can make you richer . To be a tank you have to have very nice armor and weapons. But those very nice armor and weapons get you MUCH better stuff. If you want to be a tank you better worship Bounty Hunter and solo it up. Or get a clan and do PvP. That about sums it up i think.

 

Tank > 1 def.

Just imagine a fight, a tanker and a 1def pure. The 1 def pure wouldn't hit much and would get rapidly hit. So I say tanker.

 

The thing is, we know someone with higher combat will have a high chance of beating someone with a low combat,
we're debating weather it is better to play as a tank, with higher level'ed opponents,
but have they advantage of high defence blocking yourself or
stay pure with lower level'ed opponents , but this disadvantage of no defence to safe guard from people

 

I think I am going to stay at 1 def until after low crator. Or maybe tank after around 80 range or so.

 

Stay 1 def.. I got def at 91 range and it completely ruined the acc. While it's true, you take more damage with 1 def-- You're only 70-80 cb.. Nm dmg for that compared to what you can do. Getting def bumps you up to 100 cb or so and 80% of whippers can waste you (unless you're very lucky with d bolt specs) and like 99% of dh'ers will completely waste you.. 1 def 4 lyfe

 

depends what kind of pking style you like.
me myself find pking on pures more fun, but tankers would have more income i persume...
