Is being antisemitic wrong?

For people who don't know, antisemitism is basicly hating jews.
Because of WW 2, being antisemitic is being seen as (politically) incorrect nowadays, but is it really that bad?
Alot of people hate muslims. Most of them because of 9/11 and other crap about terrorists blowing themselves up, killing innocent people.
Is hating muslims a bad thing too than?
How about christians, hindus, buddhists or even scientologists.

I think it's not bad, hating religions, as long as you don't hurt people and you don't treat them different because they believe.

Please discuss.

 

Problem is, most hatred leads to discrimination/being mean...

And if you influence others with your opinion, it becomes wrong. But if you stick to yourself, don't bother ANYONE, don't influence ANYONE, then I don't really care...but if you're antisemetic towards me IRL, I wouldn't mind giving you a punch to the face.

Truth is though, as much as other morons try to kill off the Jews, we always find a way to rebound. Lulz.

 

You can think/feel what you'd like. Antisemitism only became politically incorrect after WW2, but its one of the oldest cases of its kind.

Its only wrong to hate if you profess yourself as one who is against hate. If you're going to hate, you might as well hate equally..(?)

 

Unjustifiable hate is just as irrational as whatever religion you are trying to hate.

 

That's a good remark. Hate is corruptive to thought, no religious concepts needed to figure that one out.

 

well the only reason jews are hated becuse they were accused of being crist killers . thats the main reason and they also were accused of being the cause of the black death and so on . and also to top it off they keep them self to there self and they get persacuted becuse of israel . so i dunno i am not jewish myself but im saying.

 

1) They were accused because of hate, not because of rational thought.
2) I don't understand the quoted sentence. You're saying Jews aren't an integral part of American society? Oh, and BTW, they really get presecuted because of Israel. They got persecuted because people thought they owned Israel, despite Jews being there first.

 

Yeah the whole problem in Israel is in no way the Jews' fault, in fact it isn't even the Palestinian's fault, because it was their land in the first place. It's because of all of the anti-semitism in Europe, that's what started the fighting.

 

Yes, the Jews were displaced and returned to Israel/Palestine. I think what fuels much of the more recently founded antisemitism are the actions taken by the state of Israel in dealing with their neighbors and inhabitants (Palestinians). This new kind of antisemitism is directed more at the nation, rather than Jews themselves.

 

Very well said, but also it is wrong to be openly hostile to them. If you hate, keep it to yourself. It isnt wrong, just not good to do openly. Thats why people thought the KKK was so bad. Im sure if they just chilled in a bedroom talking about hating blacks, they would be much less hated, but no. They lynched, went on marches, and were openly hostile, thats why they are hated.

Semites are basically the middle-eastern race. I realise anti-semetic has come to mean just hating those of the Jewish religion (Judaism is not a race - remember)

No one should be hated because of their ethnic background.

As far as religion goes - people have strong vierws about certain religions. I personally believe theres been a lot more massacres in the name of Christianity than any other faith. I believe that 9/11 had nothing to do with muslim extremists.... it has been proven. Same with the 7/7 attacks in London

Its an excuse to hate... and in the modern world it's unacceptable - but it still happens.

 

Hating because of religions is improper.

Discriminating because of religion (or race) is wrong.

 

i think both are unnecessary. you should never hate anyone. unless, they do alot of bad things that affect your life.

 

I believe (personally because of religion) that you shouldn't hate anyone no matter what the cause, but beyond religion I see there as no problem to it as long as you don't effect that person or the person around you while doing so.

Hating someone specifically based upon their race, gender, culture, etc is morally wrong but depending on your current country's laws it certainly is within your human rights.

 

Personally I find anti-semetic jokes funny e.g. southpark but I dont hate jews... why would I?

 

Hate itself is not wrong, it is the hating of groups. You can't just stereotype that all muslims are terrorists because a muslim extremist suicide bombed some place in Israel.

It's stereotyping thats wrong, but it's almost impossible to get rid of. Everyone stereotypes, whether they notice it or not, for good, or for bad.
