What about Servers, Virtualization, and I would kill myself if I had to use that peice of shit iTunes for longer then an hour. Bloated, memory hogging crap. Other then being a monopoly OS, its a pretty good for alot of things. ;)

iTunes sucks on Windows tbqh. But on OS X, it runs really fast (I have a feeling Apple does that on purpose).
And Macs are technically better at virtualization because you can legally run more mainstream OSes.

Windows XP Pro 32 Bit. (Not the home edition)
I personally like Vista Ultimate 32 Bit more then Windows XP
Because its faster...and it can use more then 4GB of RAM.

Gaming: Windows XP SP2 (SP2>SP3), Windows Vista [with aero off+SP1+uac off+everything else off+magical problem fixing dust]

MAC is the crappiest OS ever made to date. I'd choose Windows 95 rather than the new MAC OSX Leopard (or w/e it is). It sucks with games (thinking about playing all the new, popular games on MAC? Think again.) and performance (about $1500 will get you a 1.63GHz processor). People think MAC is good for graphics. WHAT THE FUCK?

Linux, when not used for games, is the most effective and fastest OS to date. It's clean, everything is customizable, it handles memory very well, and all around it's just great.

But as a gamer myself, I wouldn't be using Linux as my primary OS. I can just boot into Windows/Linux via boot screen rather than a fresh re-install of a new OS.

    -_-
You can play several new games from EA. And you can also install windows on a mac to play games as well. In fact I'm pretty sure Leopard can run more new, popular games than Windows 95.

You can get a 2.66 Core 2 Duo processor for $1500
    http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MB324LL/A?mco=NzMyNjMz
And if you want graphics, you can configure a mac pro to have any of these cards:
    4 x ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB
    NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB
    NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 1.5GB

Linux is a kernel not an OS. >_< You have no clue what you're talking about tbqh.

I know what I'm talking about, so stfu kplthx. I don't know why you're trying to defend MAC - sure, MAC has SOME popular games compatible, but Windows has ALL popular games compatible - so think about that for a second.

[And no, I wasn't talking about the MAC graphics card, I meant people saying MAC is 'good for graphics']
P.S.: You said "And you can also install windows on a mac to play games as well" - you're pretty much admitting that Windows > MAC in gaming in every way.

    1. I meant in terms of you saying that Linux is an OS and that $1.5k will only get you 1.6 gHz. so no I won't stfu.
    2. Gaming is NOT the only thing you use a computer for.
    3. Then wtf do you mean by 'good for graphics'? Cause if you mean graphic design, a lot of high end graphic designers use Macs.
    4. And you can play Windows games WITHIN OS X through a VM. So technically I could run my Mac apps side by side with the Windows game.

Vista for less experienced. XP is best though. MAKE SURE TO DUAL BOOT THAT WAY IF YOU CAN'T FIND DRIVERS YOU CAN KEEP ONE OS. SERIOUSLY!

The word Linux often refers to GNU/Linux or any OS which uses the kernel. But you're right, that guy is a noob :p

Wait, what? Isn't it 64 bit that can utilize more then 4GB of RAM? >.<

For $2800? No thanks. Macs are great and all for some people, but there is no argument when it comes to price.

Personally, XP SP2 is my favourite. Stable and secure. I've got Vista on my laptop though, and I'm not sure what everybody complains about. Sure, its a little bit more resource intensive and has a slower boot time, but otherwise, I like it. I still prefer XP for games and such, but Vista certainly isn't as terrible some describe it.

I'm gonna go with Linux, just read up on theming Linux and give it a little more taste =p. Make it look like Vista or Leopard.

Why not let Linux have it's own unique look? I for one, find that several Linux-exclusive themes look much nicer than Vista.
