The rank to exist is simply a Perk. If it wasn't to exist, I'd still be writing Guides. I am active in the UE section because of R33l2r3al. He was the first person to ever say anything about it to me, and I have become known for some well-written Guides. I wish I could get some suggestions from people, because I am having a bit of writers-block. I cannot think of a topic to write about, and it must be one of potential.

Some people want the rank, but in that, they inevitably fail.

People know when a person wants a certain rank, and they are not given that for a reason. I've wanted to become a Moderator ever since I joined Sythe, but my recent actions have denied me such a position.

    Do I care?

Not at all, for many more people deserve the rank, and do a great job on Sythe. The Staff we have right now I have no problem with, and I believe they work consistently well.

As for Official MiddleMan as well, some people do it for just the rank. I am not in MM'ing for the rank, but merely to help people out. I am clearly not active in the section, and I only help people anymore when they request my assistance, or if I'm ridiculously bored.

You don't choose the ranks; the ranks choose you.

    Case closed.

But why does it really matter if you have a rank or not? What is the true motivation/benefit of having this rank? That's really my only concern. I know a few people would remain loyal/read the guides, but surely you must agree - people would be less worried about the QUALITY of their guides overall?

BTW, Alex, I understand that some people have dedication/loyalty to just helping people out. Did we make our math help thread for any rank? Of course not, yet we've dedicated a lot of hours to helping people out through that thread. I think it's similar with UE; people like you and a few others will continue to work on guides and maintain their quality, but what about all the people with stuff like "d00d UE pwnz i hope i can be part of da great team 1 day" and stuff, who just post guides to hope for the rank? They may not get the rank because of this, but they don't know it at the time.

UE section, of course, must stay. I think it could use a few improvements though (I talked about this in my first post)

As Unb4nn3d said, it's just a perk. It's so that other people can identify you as part of the UE team. The quality of the guide suffers when people just try to get the rank as fast as they can, and guess what, they never get it. If the quality of a guide is put second to the rank, we will notice.

It may be just a perk - but it also does give people respect in other areas of the forums, don't you think? If you're given the choice to have a UE or just a Sythe member, with otherwise equal credentials, who would you rather have, let's say, buying your account or MM'ing your trade? I think most people would choose the UE, no?

And why does it matter if you're part of the UE team? [please note: I'm not against the UE rank, per say, I just want the opinion of a UE member]

The UE rank is used a lot as status in the UE forum too. When people write guides they want opinions not just from random people, but UE team members. By being in the UE team it says that you're helpful, can write some nice guides, and deserve to be there. That is status yes, but it is not our fault if that "trust" pours into other sections. For example just because you are a UE doesn't make you a trusted person in the Black Market. As far as I'm concerned, only vouches can tell trust there.

Fair enough. Good counter - that's exactly what I wanted to hear. Only thing is - why does feedback from a UE count more than feedback from an intelligent non-UE? If they give constructive criticism, why does being a UE really change anything? I had a ton of respect for most of the UE's, but seeing Nathan III rip his assignment guide was...well, quite pathetic - now, I know that he was the only one, but it makes you think a bit about what UE status really means.

The thing is if you have the UE rank it means more because you have proven yourself in the UE section to be able to provide good criticism, develop well thoughout guides, among other things. A comment from someone who is not a UE doesn't make it any less useful, it just means they haven't been as active in the User Education section as the User Educators, most on a daily basis. That is the only difference. It just makes more sense to value the opinions of the people who put a lot of effort into reviewing guides, making their own, and helping out around the entire sythe forums.

    +1

It's like the spam section, except posts count. Maybe if you made it so posts don't count.

    1. What is your thought about User Education?
A failure to start with but what the UE puts into it will determine how it ends.

    2. Do you believe that it should stay, or it should go?
It should stay, but it needs to be more closely moderated and higher quality Ue's

    3. Any particular Guides that you like in the UE?
Some of the programming ones are good

    4. Someone you feel should be in the UE that is not already?
    No
    5. Do you think there should be more than just one Head UE?
    No
    6. If you are against UE, is it having jealousy of not being one?
    pffft.

Well if they'd still come, then there shouldn't be a major effect on the overall UE system if the rank was removed, again.

You don't need a rank to provide criticism or to create guides. Helping people should be done out of the kindness of your heart.

    1. What is your thought about User Education? It helps to a degree, most guides I'll never use.

    2. Do you believe that it should stay, or it should go? I guess it can stay, but I'm happy with the update of vouches dont mean currency. So I mean if a scammer got UE, people might look up to him as "trusted."

    3. Any particular Guides that you like in the UE? French one was decent because I picked up a girl. :]

    4. Someone you feel should be in the UE that is not already? (MatthewGor123!!) Noone

    5. Do you think there should be more than just one Head UE? Doesn't seem like you have to do much except write more guides.

    6. If you are against UE, is it having jealousy of not being one? No. I am homeschooled and could make 20 guides by the end of the weekend.

I'm just not going to. ^.^

    If this helps, yay.
