It annoys me when people sayd its a mental addiction or not a physical one,an addiction is an addiction and if you addicted to anything you will get bad side effects, do not let people soft story it mate. people have and still go to rehab because of weed.

Dont listen to the part time stoners who just "walked away" because people with addiction can just say im not addicted any more oh im fine..

Why would that annoy you labeling something as it is a mental addiction? Of course it's still an addiction, it's right there in the name, that's why it's called a mental addiction, because your brain wants it since it makes you feel the way you want and are used to. Which is what makes it hard to stop since you are stuck in the pattern of smoking all day every day, taking a day or even week off seems out of the question. but once you go one day you see it's not too hard to go another. and since it's not physical it's much easier to "walk away" from than something that a physical addictive substance.

All addictions are not created equally. Some addictions affect a person mentally, some cause physical symptoms, and sometimes addictions can become both physical and psychological. It is important to understand if an addiction is physical, mental, or both in order to identify the best course of treatment.

Just because you are used to the way something makes you feel doesn't mean you can't distance yourself and make a clean break from it. Sure some people need to be forced to quit, but it's a willpower thing, and like i said in my original post "When it is in front of you or easily accessible, it's easy to never stop.". Rehab for weed is usually from a third party like a parent or loved one forcing you to separate from it by putting you into a treatment center. Of course it helps and will work well since you get used to not being high every day, but you can do it on your own, it's not as hard are you make it sound just because some people go to rehab, doesn't justify that rehab is the only way to stop smoking.

I'm assuming you are referring to me about being the part time stoner that shouldn't be listened to, I've smoked nearly 1/4th of my time alive only having recently stopped but still planning to go back soon. idk if you actually read my post, or just skimmed it to find a keyword to misquote, just trying to give my examples to help someone else that wanted to take a break.

Happy that you been doing less and less. Cutting to evenings is a great idea.

I'll tell you that after I abstained for a couple years I tried it again and got bad audible hallucinations and really bad anxiety. Not fun anymore.

    Cannabis addiction

Here's my opinion. I started smoking at 14-15 and started smoking daily at 17 and still going strong to this day. I smoke depending on the day and my schedule.

    What you are doing right:

    Smoking AFTER uni
Smoking because of anxiety/depression (depends who you ask rather this is. Good thing)

My opinion is that people smoke and smoke and smoke and eventually they aren't smoking for depression, but rather smoking because they are 'bored'

That's what happened with me. I found myself smoking just to try it, then started smoking more because I surrounded myself with people who smoked all day and felt "semi-depressed/bored", and now that I don't hangout with them anymore because I'm so busy, I find myself smoking because, well, I have some to smoke. And if I don't I go buy a g-2 (don't like keeping large amounts on me).

The problem with ME is that I'm smoking because I'm bored, and that makes me kinda depressed because I should be smoking to "have fun!" Or just to relax if I had a bad day (and sometimes I do).

Look, everyone is different, but here's my advice

    1. Spend only about 10%-15% MAX paycheck on bud
    2. Try to smoke only from Thursday-Sunday
    3. Try to find friends to smoke more with, that way you can smoke for "fun" and have a good time
4 for depression and anxiety, try smoking a little if you feel those urges come, but put a stick note on your PC that says "if I smoke when I'm depressed, I'm just finding a sensitive, if I'm depressed and I don't smoke, I am strong" or something like that. Don't feel like you are under its thumb

I'm not saying you are weak, but I would hate to see someone start smoking more and more and more NOT because they are a weed loving person who is just genuinely fascinated with the culture, medicine, and life style, but because they are trying to 'treat' something

Yes, weed helps depression. It helps mine and it does help anxiety (but it also makes me paranoid as fuck sometimes), but there are better means

Bottom line: you will be MUCH more happy if you stopped smoking weed for your depression, and started smoking weed to make your already amazing day better :)

Not trying to tell you to just randomly stop being depressed, but try to change your lifestyle one step at a time until you find that you aren't depressed or just bored all the time, and that will not only help you emotionally and physically, but will also make the weed you love to smoke that much more enjoyable!

IMPORTANT: most people your age, especially ones who are in college, go out, get drunk, fuck up, act crazy, etc, etc... You seem like a nice person, and I do think there is a divide in the type of people who smoke.

    1. There are the fun loving people who like to smoke, are chill, and try to share experiences with others through the herb and what not and even trying to smoke because they want to relax and treat anxiety (like cigarettes)
    2. There are douche bags who hop on this bandwagon, get stuck, resort to a "thugish" lifestyle portrayed by the music industry with smoking that makes them think they are somehow superior and cooler for smoking
    3. then there are some who are both

Try to be the first of these, and I think you will find your way in life and around "addiction" (not technically addictive to your body but people do fall into patterns that can effect there life choices, trust me it seen it).

Don't sweat it.. You are young and have a whole life in front of you. Soon you will be making bank after Uni, have a family maybe, hanging out with friends, and responsibly smoking weed everyone once in a while, or w everyday if you choose, and you won't feel like it's because of your depression. Trust me. We have all either been through it, or still finding our way out. The good thing about marijuana, is that it lets YOU make the choices, not the other way around.

    Cannabis addiction

After 5 years of smoking, smoking pounds and pounds of weed, Most was 1Oz in 3 days. I am happy to say, its been about a month that I am free from Cannabis use. Cannabis was a big role in my life, depleting a lot of my money (Over 50K) in the last 5 years. If you need help with this addiction add my skype in the sig. I will help anyone with help/assistance to quit this Addiction. Free of charge! Donations are accepted tho as a gesture of good will :p

PS: Anyone who says you're doing something right by smoking weed is a liar. They are just to weak to quit the addiction so they justify it to themselves they are "not an addict" but infact they are. Trust me I know. I know all the excuses and reasons you tell yourself. Deep down they are smoking bud but they are still not content, happy, and they are 99% usually depressed inside. Also pretty sure they suffer from anxiety and social awkwardness when they are sober. Stop lying to yourself like Mr. Eazy E and make a step to change your life. I have graduated Uni with a degree in the hardest course while being high day and night. I still dont justify it being okay to use weed. Other lies they will say: 1) Smoke less
    2) Taper off
    3) Dont quit cold turkey
    4) Its okay to use it once ur managing your money or smoking after school

If you think about it whats the difference between replacing the word "weed" with "alcohol"? NOTHING! besides a few less toxic health effects. Is it okay to wake up and drink a beer EVERYDAY before class? Hell no.. So why smoke? Is it okay that you NEED to drink a beer or a few EVERYDAY after uni? Hell No. Stop lying to yourself and click below to add me on skype.

On average I smoked a 1/4 Oz a day for 2 months straight. Everyday I would buy 8G or 7G from the dealer and would be done by the end of the night. I use to hang around friends and all day from 8AM to 12PM+ we'd just be smoking joints. About 8-12 per day. So its safe to say i've smoke my fair share and qualified to at least give some advice :p I have also tried microdosing where you smoke like 1/10 of a gram. But eventually your tolerance builds up and your back to your old ways.

THE NUMBER ONE WAY TO QUIT WEED IS:

TO STAY AWAY FROM PEOPLE WHO SMOKE WEED!

    I said 1Oz in 3 days. 28g X 4 but still I averaged a lot.

I stopped because God gave me the gift of realizing the shithole I was putting myself into continusously. Emotionally and Financially. When you smoke weed you don't have any stability in your emotions. You will make irrational decisions and think you are in your senses because you are use to being always high. When something bad happens because of the choice you say "oh well" and continue. I realized how people used me because they knew I was addicted. They maniuplated my emotions (ex gf) and friends and your just fine with it cuz you light up and everything is okay. To quit weed you have to want to live a REAL LIFE. Weed is basically a crutch for your emotions. When something happens the first thing you run to is weed which is a paradigm in inteself since you will never build any strength to better your life. Financially, emotion and spiritually Now all I do is seek pleasure from Praying to God. I have made myself realize its better to be at Peace with yourself and heart 24 hours a day than to be in joy for a few hours and miserable after with servere consequences. If you look around I am sure you will never find someone who has successfully quit weed. I have been trying for years to quit and this is the longest I have gone and dont plan to go back. The first few days are hard and the dreams are intense but think of it as the price you have to pay for enjoying yourself with synthethic freedom and pleasure for the last few years. Everyone who smokes has enough justification as to why they are not addicted, but the last time I checked if you arent addicted to something you can easily drop it for a month or two with no side effects; Sadly this is not the case.

Honestly not the healthier option of methods, but cannabis addiction is more of a mental addiction opposed to physical.. (feeling the urge to use to relief negative thought's, feeling's, pains.)
Using anything, well more abusing something like a sleeping pill can give you a similar relief of drowsiness.
Monitering the usage and it could be a worthwhile solution, abusing them to hard & it puts you worse then where you started. just a personal opinion, hope it helps.

    Cannabis addiction

I beg to differ @Ragid , I have quit smoking cannabis over a month now after 3-5 years of constant abuse/use. Here are some of the things I notice:

    1. Emotional stability (No sporadic emotions in the jist of the moment that I would regret later)
    2. More control over my body and thoughts
    3. More control over my interactions with people. Before I would be down to smoke with any and everyone no matter how negative their vibes were. Now I dont even come in the same proximity because I see them as "triggers". They will try to hype you up to do something irrational/violent or make you feel like shit.
    4. No insomnia. Before I would feel like I HAVE to ensure things happen, like if I have a girlfriend and she doesnt answer her phone I would jump in my car and rush to drive over to her house and wait for her like some maniac. Now I just don't really give a fuck. Whatever happens happens. Not in a negative way, but more of a whatever God decree's to happen will happen..
    5. More energetic and less acne. I use to get a few pimples on my face from time to time but now its pretty clear.
    6. Brighter skin
    7. More inclined to be a religious person and seek not carnal pleasures (Sex/money/drugs)
    8. Better recovery in the gym and more energy (Dont even use a preworkout anymore)
    9. Less inclined to eat/consume sugar and I usually just drink mostly water now.
    10. Overall better brain/body health.

You can read all of that and decide for yourself. Many people are just too weak to quit weed so they make a book of excuses.

If you have big addiction you can try to use CBD instead smoking. It helps to relax, reduce stress and provide many other health benefits! If you don't want to buy oil or pills check products from cheeba chews, there are many interesting variants:)

    My best advice is to try your best not to smoke but if you cave and occasionally smoke every time you do you will realize you shouldn’t next time if that makes any sense. Also think about the positives to not smoking like the money you will save , increased productivity etc. maybe also try to Do something like excersising or a instrument etc you said yourself you smoke to cope with depression etc so a hobby could possibly fill that void if that makes any sense. It’s human nature to want to do the thing that helps you cope with your problems . So if you quit smoking and find something else you enjoy you may realize you don’t need the weed as much as you do. Best of luck mate. =}

I second that CBD is helpful for quitting! THC is an especially harmful component of cannabis, especially in isolation from CBD. Overall, there are significant physical & mental risks of cannabis intake (esp. inhaling, smoking). Personally, I am making efforts to reduce the frequency and amount of cannabis I use. Since I've switched to CBD dominant cannabis and have noticed a reduction of craving, mental clouding, manic-depressive symptoms. Now, I'm weaning off of CBD as well ... not that I don't plan to partake on special occasions.

Perhaps you should lower the amount you consume or take a break for couple days then try smoking again itll be more effective
