    Looking to buy a laptop.

I am a student who is in grade 9 and I am looking to buy a laptop. I can spend up to $2000 CAD. I want to be able to use this computer for about 2-3 years. Windows Vista or Mac OS X preferred. Which type of laptop should I buy? I am looking for a 17 inch or 15 inch screen.

You should get one of the 200 dollar ones they ship to people in Africa. You could buy like 10 of them. Serious.

    Looking to buy a laptop.

^^ dont buy an Alienware laptop their too expensive and have the "Gaming Desgin" im pretty sure ur not gamer, if not get it lol.

Before i say anything, do you need a laptop? Do you seriously need one? Ask yourself that and buy it.

If you have atleast 700+ dollars dont buy DELL << its shit

If you have 1000+ dollars, buy a Mac or something dont buy Mac Book air.

If you have 1500+ Dollars Go buy a laptop with 3 or 4 gigs RAM with 2.5 GHS atleast and buy about 750 - T laptop.

    Check out www.Costco.com, Bestbuy.com, Circuitcity.com

They have great deals. O and dont buy the Microsoft word im pretty sure there are some "Free" ones on youtube or google, just search "Free Microsoft Word 2007" and wala

As stated above, I would avoid Alienware in general. They are owned by Dell now, and customer service has slid seriously downhill. Prices are also much higher then they should be, you really just pay for the name.

If you are looking for a mid/high end laptop, I would avoid Dell and HP. I know that if I was buying the laptop, I would most likely go with a Sager or Asus model, given their many benefits. A dedicated GPU, high RAM, etc, are all things you will need if you want to keep your laptop usable for the next few years.

    My recommendation would be :

Great laptop, and well under 2000 with customization.

    Looking to buy a laptop.

Buy an acer laptop, comes in many diffrent kinds of screen sizes, it is about as durable as it gets (although it does scratch easy) I have dropped mine about 20 times down the stairs 3 times, comes with a lifetime warrenty so if it breaks you can get it fixed or a new one. It is ideal for school comes with vista and its 1000 American not sure how much canadian (1000 with all programs Microsoft games and a webcam)

    Looking to buy a laptop.

I am a complete tech freak so I will tell you what to look for I am not pointing you in any "brand" direction.

You want something that has at the least 3GB of RAM.
You need to have something that has a NVIDIA Graphics Processor.
You also need a laptop that is WiFi certified (so it can get Internet anywhere)

Now I am using an AlienWare because I am a gamer, I have an HP DV6000 which should fit your needs so maybe you could go with HP. Hope you get what you need.
