UE Ranks

I think it'd benefit the forum as a whole to remove UE ranks.

Who has ACTUALLY made use of a guide from there? No, not silly things like how to change your computer's background, things like what to do if you're arrested. Things that would actually help people's lives.

Like me? Hate me? Hate it? Love it? Discuss.

 

Wow...I really, really, really disagree. I have made use of TONS of guides from UE, and I know first-hand that at least a few people have made use of a few of mine. And what's wrong with helping other people? You think they should remove the entire UE section, too?

Should they get rid of the donator ranks? How about the community mods?

Unb4ann3d post's some Hella good guides. i think he should deserve it. and nothing against my man, Rawr Im Phat, but he got it within like a week he told me, and he said he didnt even post 1 guide. he just posted feedback.

But Rawr Im Phat does write some cool guides, and he has good hair.

But anyways, I think certain people deserve it too. Just look at the quality of the guides, not quantity I suppose. Some Guides have a reason to be posted, and should exist. Others, should not, and are quite self-explanatory.

 

Exactly. Personally, I've posted most of my guides because of requests, or somebody telling me something like "I wanna know how to do this" - I don't just post them because I feel like posting another guide cuz it'll make me a UE. I actually want to help people increase their knowledge or do something interesting - I don't need a title for that?

 

Good for you. What about the people that didn't know how? I'm sure there was a time when you didn't know how to. How did you figure it out? A guide perhaps, maybe you just checked in the control panel, either way, simple guides can always help some people.

No, just the UE ranks. There is nothing wrong with helping people, but over 90% of the guides there are either google'd or copied in some other form. There is really no need.

After talking to Tgump on MSN, I guess I kinda misunderstood the suggestion. He didn't mean completely remove them, he just meant to filter guides into sections and be more strict about who gets UE or not. Of course, I agree that UE status should not be given out to random people who just post long, useless guides and whatnot that have no real purpose [no request or anything like that].

 

Just remove the whole section altogether.

It sucks anyways; 90% of the guides are either common sense or found on google.

 

Ripped guides are reported. and deleted so no there not off of google.

ive made guides.. and alot of feedback from them, people seem to like them and helps them out alot.

but yeah i agree only people that post things that arnt just COMMON sense guides should have them.

 

Remove the ranks. They're of no use anyway. People should just be able to come in, post guides and leave. Rank = nothing useful. Why not give everyone who posts a guide the UE rank? They're educating aren't they?

 

not even close, some guides help and some dont. the UE team is a great group that focuses on helping other sythe members. the rank is to show that they are a big contributor to the community

 

Oh? I've written about 15 guides in the UE section and you don't see User Educator next to my name. Who says you have to have the rank to be a contributor?
