Todays "gangsters"

I highlighted the main question at bottom in read if you don't want to read every bit of it.




This is a debate on what you think of what today's generation call gangsters.

A member of a group or gang of persons who makes a profit pro moting or protecting by force some illegal activity such as bootlegging or gambling.

So, today most people call gangsters everyone that wears their hat differen't, has nice shoes, druggies, owns a gun.
Usually.

I say this is retarded, as most of the time a "gangster" today started up drug dealing under a boss, which by definition would be a gangster, because they needed cash to survive, or because they don't use any mind they have and think that big chains and shoes define a person.
Do you think today gangster is a term to loosely used to describe people, or do you really think some random idiots blasting each other over stupid reasons like
"HEY YO THAT NUKKA LOOKED AT ME WRONG!"

Or
"WHAT THE F--- THAT MOTHER F---- BI-- DID F----- LOOK AT ME THAT A-- HOLE I'LL F--- KILL THAT LITTLE B--- A-- CU--"


I mean, seriously?
If you read news story's about gang violence, almost all of it is unorganized vendettas by people that got raised wrong and ended up in a "gang" because a gang would be the only way to survive.


SO: the main question of debate; do you think the term gangster is overused on people?

 

i think it is, and the only real "gangsters" are behind bars... these little boys on the streets are fake as....yeah...

 

Very overused. People say it as a term of "being cool", when all it is in nonsense. Like the person above me states, all the real gangsters/mobsters are either dead, in jail, or waiting for the needle... We need to cool down on how often we use it..

 

there are some gangsters that are still out there that you don't know about, because they want to keep it that way. and i don't know any either, but out of all the people in the world there would be some gangster out there that is really unknown to the public world and only known by higher powers(mobsters etc.)

then there are the gangsters like crips/bloods/ms13 which fight for pride/money whatever.

i think its overused by some kids and teens that do think they are the real shit but then again there are gangsters that are in gangs but dont do the whole drug thing.

Well actually, I was recently watching a show that shown the three dangerous gangsters - the mexican mafia, crips, bloods, etc.

I think those are the 'gangsters' today. They said that these gangs are spread throughout the U.S, so it doesn't have to necessarily be inside a prison/jail.

 

Fighting for pride/money is stupid.

Same as little kids fist fighting because someone stepped on their shoe.

i agree with this, and this annoys me so bad. mafia and etc are REAL gangsters, and atleast they do what they do for something. not just, not being racist but lets face it, some black guy going all macho over some guy looking at him or whatnot. i hate it when people call people like that gangsters. and when chicks will put on a guys hat on an angle n pose n go gangstuh! for a joke, like wtf, they rnt gangsters, they are basically and simply put idiots.

Like everyone else has said, i believe the term 'gangsters' is over-used. Today all those 'gangster-wannabes' start gay ass little gangs so they can fill tough when they say "what are you looking at C***?".

Whenever someone in a big group says "What are you looking at?" i say "yeah, you say that when your in a big group, but i doubt you'd say that by yourself" (usually they are in shopping centres so i know they won't do anything anyway) and most the time they are just like "yeah whatever" and just start swearing but never offer to fight 1 on 1 or anything lol.

Anyone who listens to 'Soulja Boy' thinks their a 'gangsta' these days.

I think that it has been taken on by the younger population of our world. It's almost like they're reaching for a sort of maturity by being a "gangster" and walking around beating people up and generally causing havoc.
I feel a gangster should really be as it is defined. They should only be a gangster to make profit. Not just for cheap thrills.

 

Just because someone carries a gun or a knife, doesn't mean there a gangster, it just shows there pussies who can't fight with there fists and need a weapon to fight.

I disagree with most of you, these bloods, crips, MS13 are real gangsters. They are organized crime. They pretty much do anything the mafia does.

I also disagree with some of you that say that fighting for pride/money is immature/idiotic, especially in gangs

 

this little kids think their hard but if you drive a 93 ford mondao your nothing more then a wanna be. The real ones are in jail, or behind it. But theres no honer now not like the old time gangsters; ones that looked respectable, no they have shirts twice as bigs as them and holding on their pants. I fought like two at once and their a joke, they can't even move, told the security guard it was self defense.
