need help with 2 physics questions plz help

1) A 2.51 kg ball is dropped from the roof of a building 155.1 m high. While the ball is falling to Earth, a horizontal wind exerts a constant force of 12.2 N on the ball. The acceleration of gravity is 9.81 m/s^2. What is the speed when the ball hits the ground?

Tips:
A) The ball takes 5.6 seconds to fall to the ground.
b) The ball hits the ground 76.8 m away from the building.

2) The horizontal surface on which the block of mass 3.9 kg slides is frictionless. The force of 47 N acts on the block at a 60 degree angle. The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s^2. What is the magnitude of the resulting acceleration of the block? Answer in units of m/s^2.

For the first one, I haven't gotten up to there yet but here's my guess.

First you can find the horizontal acceleration from the Fnet=ma equation. Then you can use the vertical and horizontal acceleration to find the diagonal acceleration. Using that you can find the final velocity given you have the time which you have.

 

A)

If you have the vertical and horizontal speed, you can find the total speed:
sqrt(v(vertical)^2 + v(horizontal)^2) = v(net).
sqrt (3039.96 + (4.8605*5.6)^2) = vnet
sqrt (3039.96 + 740.863073) = vnet
sqrt (3780.82307) = vnet
vnet = 61.4883978

Seriously, just google it first - this problem is easy, but why waste my time explaining it to you if a simple Google search can solve it?

B) Again, Pythagorean theorem. This one, I am not as sure about because the 60 degrees is a bit ambiguous; it can be 60 degrees from a bunch of different points. However, the answer I came up with:


Use Pythagorean Theorem:
sqrt (38.22^2 + 47^2) = f(net)
sqrt (3669.7684) = f(net)
60.5786 = f(net)

This one may very well be wrong, but I tried :O

 

v = Vo +at

velocity = initial velocity + acceleration * time

V = 0 + 9.81*5.6

V = 54.936

Edit: Why does the question give you so much info thats not needed? The horizontal force is pushing it horizontal, which does not change the fact that its falling at 9.81m/s/s. The distance it falls is irrelevant considering we know how long it took to fall. the wieght of the ball isnt relavent as all objects fall at the same rate. If you shot a bullet perfectly horizontal and droped a bullet at the same time, at the same height, they would hit the ground at the same time.
