I'd put this in the RS2 section, but it's more about jagex than in-game Runescape so I thought it'd fit here. Just saying this so I don't get... infracted like last time. :'(

By the way, it doesn't take a genius to figure out Bounty Hunter is fail. Jagex couldn't come up with the idea of making Bounty Hunter circular, with nothing that will allow a real world trader to distinguish areas to areas, and they couldn't just take off the minimap? Again, seriously! I mean, COME ON.

 

They are advertising WoW on their homepage, and calling it "America's #1 Online Game"... Thats what is wrong with it, and thats stupid.

In my opinion, JaGex isn't that bad but they are way too strict.

 

They are advertising their competition is what he is getting at.
At this rate though it seems jagex will do anything for money

 

Jagex can take a hike. They advertise for their competitors, which is ridiculous. I wasted a few years of my life playing this damn game. Not too mention their customer support can't get much worse. Everything about them blows, and how they became such a well known game is beyond belief.

They don't care about anyone, they just want money. They are fuckheads and are overly strict on every aspect of their game.

 

Their advertising partner, WildTangent, controls the ad content. They could care less if they're in competition.

No they're actually very smart. They must have calculated that the money earned from the advertisement on their website would outweigh the number of players lost due to the actual advertisement. They're not little kids, they are people with degrees

 

Were not disputing the fact that they're smart (at least I'm not). I know their smart, but they do do some stupid things. All I'm saying is, is that everything about Runescape blows, not Jagex specifically. Their customer service is at its worst (which is what it's always been), and their making updates like there's no tomorrow which is driving people away. They suck at everything, but there not stupid.

 

If we're specifically arguing about the advertisement on the front page, then no Jagex isn't stupid, and it may even be a smart thing to do. But in general, they have made some mistakes in the past.

 

Runescape used to be pretty good. Now I don't think they care too much anymore.

 

As I have said before, there 2 completely different types of games and it's because of there ads that they make a large fraction of what wow makes with 1\4th the membership payment and a lot less people.

The fact is there is no game like runescape they are all alone therefore it's a open market for them. Just because they have genius marketing skills doesn't mean that you have to hate them for that reason, there are many other reason's to hate them.

 

Meh, they don't give a rats ass anymore.... runescape is just there for the free money =/

 

They took out wilderness and staking etc which lost half their members. It stopped most people RWT, but overall stopping RWT for such a large loss of money from losing members probably wasn't worth it. So i wouldn't be betting on just how 'smart' these people are.

Actually in the contact, Jagex is allowed to remove any advertisement that is not appealing to them, or else they would not have the "report advert".

I'm pretty sure WildTangent isn't that dumb either.

So they're degrees couldn't make the Bounty Hunter round with no minimap so no one can RWT? Face it, they're morons.

They're both competing to be/stay #1 MMO.

 

How can you call them morons? They've created one of the most popular online games and have made MILLIONS in profit. Sure, they've made mistakes in the past, but they've managed to get millions of people to literally sit in front of their computer screen for hours playing the game they invented.

Well of course an MMO will get popular after almost 8 years of being around and requiring almost nothing of a computer to play. I could almost assure you if Runescape was in the hands of Blizzard or some other company, it would actually get BETTER.
