It's psychological and it's completely normal, it's nowhere near being brainwashed. Once they are at a higher level of intelligence and maturity, they will begin to form their own opinions and be able to use their own knowledge in debates.

 

I have to agree with you about the politics, im a freshmen and everybody is the exact same way, i don't care who is president, it won't affect me much. But attacking there religioun is a really mean thing to do if someone made fun of you for being atheist you would get offended, so that makes you a hippocrit.
