Illegal immigrants

Illegal immigrants have been becoming a big problem in the U.S. lately. With them come drugs, disease, and other bad side affects. We don't seem to be doing that much about it. I was just wondering how you guys felt on the subject. Do you think we are doing enough? Do you think we should do more? What do you think we could do to prevent this? Do you think it is ok for them to just come into the country? Do you think they should come through legally? Or do you just not want anymore people coming into your country?

And please don't have the discussion be all about Mexicans or Cubans. There are also illegal immigrants from Canada, Europe, all over.

If people want to move to a certain area, I don't see why you have the right to stop them.

 

I agree, but it's just not that simple anymore, there are laws and regulations because land isn't free anymore. People own land, and they decide who is allowed on it and who isn't.

We'll have to wait and see what Obama will try to do about illegal immigration.

 

I sort of agree what Shredder says. Especialy since 99.99% of Americans are immigrants themselves.
As far as America goes - dont you think you should stop concentrating on the "liberty" of another country, bring your troops home and start defending your own (if you really see it that way)? Many immigrants to America are not illegal. Most of the illegal ones are still trying to run for a better life though.

If someone thought they could fuck your country up by moving they wouldnt move to a country thats going to be fucked up.

I see where you guys are coming from. I feel the same way that people should be allowed to come to the country just do it legally and that is all good with me. My great grandparents all came here legally, I just think it is unfair to the people who currently live here and came legally. Since illegal immigrants don't have to pay taxes or anything like that. Keep discussing this is good. =)

 

If immigrants realised they wouldnt have a BETTER life in the country they were movng to then they wouldnt move.
I actually meant if every single person in south America wants to move to the USA and one day someone opened the gates and organised transport for every single one of them a ot of them wouldnt mover after thinking about it. They'd realise that there was something fishy about the whole thing
They see America as a better country because they hear of its economy, its workforce's rights and all of its good points. They hear stories of survival and wealth. What they dont hear is the fact that they could well loose their life int the environment they will be living in. They will probably have to commit several crimes to survive and then they will probably be deported

No person would move if they knew every single risk unless they were extremely deperate

Same. Most of my great grandparents moved from Ireland to Scotland when there was a lack of jobs and they basically thought if they stayed they would have died.
People were racist towards the Irish when they came... they thouht they'd ruin everything the country had built up. Many people might not think of it but without the Irish my country would now have real problems. My point here is that people eventually saw the Irish immigration as acceptable when it started to work - simply because the Irish were white
Its once people start using immigration an excuse to be racist that the country has a bias view of things like employing workforce and even things like civil rights and equal opportunities.

Exactly. They ARE all extremely desperate. Working way below minimum wage is fine for them because they wouldn't be getting shit back home.

 

So you are condoning there actions because they are desperate? You are saying it is ok for people to break the law because there situation afterward is better then the one they were stuck in?

What about rapists, killers, and thieves? Can you condone there action because they were in a worse situation before? Because they didn't like the person they killed, or they really needed that flat screen tv?

I think that if they want to come over, then sure. People bitch about losing jobs to them. Be better than them, and you won't have that problem.

Well it takes years to become a citizen, you can't just expect to come here and have them hand you citizenship as soon as you step on U.S soil. Although i do think their is one if you swim and reach U.S soil they let you stay or something.

 

You can't compare an illegal to a killer, rapist. Both break the law but are not near the same.

You say they don't pay taxes when in fact they do. In case you didn't know for most of them to work they use fake identities or someone elses. In which for example even if they use a fake one the employer still has to pay taxes for that employee. If they use someone elses its usually someone who doesn't use or has let them use it. Even then after years of hard work under another identity they can't claim social security so the government just keeps that unclaimed money.

They buy houses. Your telling me they can buy a house without paying taxes?
