Yeah I tottaly understand where your coming from. I always think of Christmas is being celebrated as being the Birth Of Christ but now I think that anyone can celebrate it as a holiday.

I am a Roman Catholic and I do believe in God so I have no way not to celebrate these two festivities.

Thanks for your answer anyway Finniscool.

Well at least it was. Some people do still celebrate christmas for being the birth of Christ. I'm not saying thats why I celebrate it but thats what it is.

    Yeah.

My family and I celebrate both Christmas and Easter as a sort of family holiday.

Also, Jesus wasn't born at Christmas.

Christmas doesn't really have a lot of relevance to Christmas any more. A few of my other Atheist buds celebrate it too.

    Free stuff rules, anyways.

I think of it as more of a family holiday. I don't think if your whole family is Athiest that you'll celebrate christmas though.

And why not say " because you get free stuff" if it's the truth and nothing more than that.

I personally think the reason I celebrate it is for the rest of my family not everyone in my family has the same ideals as myself. As well as it has good morals to give rather than receive, and also helps a family get together.

I do celebrate it, because I like having a good time with my family. Although Christmas and Easter don't mean that much to me, because it is way too commercial and I just don't believe in god. My family does believe in god/Jesus and they think it's a very important holiday.

You shouldn't make that assumption. My family does and most of us think for ourselves.

I'm 100% Jewish, but Christmas has become such a cultural thing here, that we put up a "Christmas" tree, but we say it's for New Years, and Christmas lights and say it's for New Years. I celebrate the New Year with a bunch of Russian Jews in New York every year, and you could easily mistake it for a Christian household, even though we're all Jewish. And yes, I know you've gotten your answer, but I just thought it was kinda interesting.

If you're a non-Christian and you celebrate Easter, then that's just weird :S

No problem :) I mean, I am by no means a very religious Jew. I don't keep Kosher or anything, I maybe spend 13-14 days a year in Temple (high holidays, and family members Bar/Bat Mitzvahs), but I do feel like a very active participant in the Reform-Jew community. And most Jews I know do something at least kind of similar; as you may know, Hannukah is generally somewhere near the time of Christmas, so that's another excuse a lot of Jews have for celebrating this season. But yeah, that's my holiday season ^_^

I'm an Atheist and I don't really think Christmas and Easter are religious to me, it's just a happy, festive time of the year.

I just enjoy celebrating it because of the good cheer that comes with it, I don't really think down to the core every Christmas/Easter about the religious aspects of it.

I don't know any Jews that do that. Maybe it's a reformed Russian Jew Brooklyn thing? Where in New York?

Hanukah takes place of christmas as far as I know.
