A poppy-wearing pensioner tackled a robber who was brandishing a sledgehammer as a crowd of 50 people stood by and did nothing.


"The man, in his late 70s, foiled a raid on a jewellery shop by grappling a man and ripping off his balaclava while others looked on.After being confronted the stunned robber and his accomplice threw down their weapons in the street and fled empty-handed.
The pensioner stepped in, risking his own safety as the two robbers tried to smash their way through reinforced windows at an Ernest Jones store in broad daylight in Richmond, south-west London.
They pounded the windows up to 20 times in a busy shopping street"

It's due to a lack of patrionism in my generation. But I would have at least called the police, I mean come on, they were doing nothing ?

O wow, a 70 year old has more courage than any other person there. Kudos to him for stopping 2 fully armed and capable robbers.

 

Thats nothing compared to this, guy is getting stabbed and people just walk by and don't even call the cops.

 

A guy in my state got hit by a car in midday, couldn't move, so he had to lay there for a few hours before anybody did anything. Busy street too

That's bullshit, i can't believe the only person who tried to stop them was an old man. If i saw an old man tackle a robber i would've instantly helped because i would've been afraid of that old man getting hurt which he didn't deserve. That shit doesn't happen in Australia as far as i know. I would never just ignore a situation like that or any situations that have been posted by other members on this thread.

 

I don't think it was a matter of going into the jewelry store and robbing things in there but to get the things in the windows that you see when you walk by. Just a guess though.
