Community repayment. Yikes.

I was helping a friend with his pardon, and was disappointed with the handling of the coins.

To start, the wallet accepting the coins hasn't upgraded to Segwit addresses even after over 2 years since the soft fork, which means it will cost an extra 40%+ in fees to send those coins again when the scam victims receive it. This isn't an issue now since the mempool is empty, but it inevitably will be.

Second, this address has already been used 18 times. This is a terrible privacy practice, and may end up causing the repaid victims problems if they send their coins to a KYCed service since their coins are permanently linked to a dozen+ scammers wallets.

Third, it's not possible to send "Exactly $11" because bitcoin is measured in satoshis, not fiat. The amount has to be specified in sats if you expect a payment of an exact amount.

 

I feel like you're seriously overreacting and making a big deal over nothing.

Especially for the exactly $11 part since all he has to do is make sure he sends $11 at any time that he sends which isnt hard if he isnt retarded if the price changes later on its not his problem. They can't give him a specific number to send because the price is always changing so he might end up sending more or less

 

Right. The word "exactly" was used twice wrt the payment, but there's no single oracle that you can measure the price from. Perps on Bitmex has a different price than Coinbase or Bitstamp, USDT exchanges like Bitfinex and Binance have a different price because of the premium/discount associated with the fiat derivative their order book is measured in, Coinmarketcap and Blockchain.com have an absolutely shitty, inaccurate index. This is why the payment amount has to be denominated in satoshis if you expect an "EXACT" amount.
