1227s Improved Obby Mauler Guide Part one

Welcome to the improved obsidian maulers Guide by 1227

Okay apart from the fact that this guide is larger, it will be done in sections. I will continue to work on this guide for the next few weeks. I hope this will be a great help to anyone wanting to make an obsidian mauler in the future. But anyways, back to the guide.

However I think that names are the most important part of an account and 1337sp34k and random numbers after a word (example- obby17823) are pathetic. So make something that people will remember when you own them
Okay now that you have your freshly made Character, along with his snazzy new bronze sword and stylish wooden shield, you are ready to start with something every pure needs a healthy supply of. Money. Sure, maybe it’s not the thing pures are best at but in order to train and have a decent amount of fun you must have a healthy supply of money.

Head on up to Stronghold of security and get the stylish boots and the 10k.


Then do the stronghold of player safety and get 10k again along with 2 experience lamps. Use them on strength.

Afterwards walk to the grand exchange and begin the next step.

To start training efficiently then you need to gear up. I suggest being pay to play at this step but it is still possible to train in free worlds but less will be accomplished.

Members buy the following: Red Topaz Machete (the #1 weapon for 1 attack)
Full Iron Armor set and a strength amulet. Spend the remainder on trout for training food.

free players buy the following: Iron dagger (hit fastest so you can gain a lot of experience). Full iron armor and a strength amulet. Spend the remainder on trout for training food.

Now it's time to make an important decision that may or may not make or break your obby mauler.
You need to decide what kind of obby mauler you want to make.
The suggested stats from me (and remember it's just an opinion):
1-20 Attack: I would get 20 only for climbing boots that we will explain later on in the guide.
1 Defense:It's quite obvious why you would want 1 defense. Some people want to make obby tanks but this guide is not about obby tanks. Deal with it.
60+ Strength:In order to wield the obsidian maul you must have 60+ strength or higher. I highly suggest 75 or higher. It's all up to what you want.
55 Magic:You will want 55 magic for slayer staff which is a obby maulers dream weapon.
55 Slayer:You will want 55 slayer for the slayer staff which is the best weapon an obby mauler can have next to an obby mauler. It is great for training.

Training Attack
Attack is one of the most important focal points of an obsidian mauler. I suggest staying 1 attack. But if you have the itch for a few levels, get 1-8 on dummies in Varrock.

The reason you want to do it there is because it will not effect your hp level and you want that as low as possible.
for 8-10+ kill monks in the monastery or rock crabs for members.

Training Strength
Assuming you have followed this guide thus far and have 9 strength from the lamps then I will start there. Strength is one of the most important things an obsidian mauler can have.
Method one would be Rock Crabs.

Another favorite spot would be Edgeville Men.

Another Tip is to pick up bones and bank. If you are Pay to Play, pick up herbs as well as you will average about 25-38k an hour from this as well and decent experience.
And let's not forget everyone's [sarcasm] Favorite Passtime[/sarcasm] Pest Control.
It may be some time before you can do pest control but once you get to combat level 40+ you are going to be all "power leveled out". Well at least I was. So why not have a little fun eh? I usually stuck to very low levels when I was in PC so that I could get a better kill count. No worries though because you can't die. Get the feel for it at first.
To get there:
Go to Port Sarim and find this guy:

Right Click and select travel. Be sure to be on the designated Pest Control World. Joining a PC clan is always fun and you get a lot of things done there. As long as a good atmosphere.

Training Magic
Basically the only reason you would truly want to get magic is for the slayer staff. Either that or you want a hybrid of mage and obby. Either way you are going to want this to be done without hp levels. So here are the ways you can do that.

Varrock Zammy monk:
Cast curse spells on this zammy monk in Varrock Castle while wearing full iron.


Another way to achieve is to Teleport many MANY times.

Or you can low Alch.

Slayer training. The pain in the arse.
Basically just do slayer assignments. Try to pot up. That's all there is to say about that./

Nice guide but one thing to add,

Buy and iron scim instead of a dagger. Iron scims hit at the same speed but scims are better.
