Everyone in the world has their eyes focused on the one thing we all want... Freedom for petroleum...

Here we are discussing the terms "free energy" when in truth, there is nothing in life that is free... Even happiness costs money. But back on subject, are there any ideas from you Sythe, that could one day change the world?

I had an idea that every major company of the world be forced to post out sun panels on their roof and the top floor windows of their buildings... that way those business are not using the energy that other civilians might need.. but it should not stop there... if that is a success then the whole world should post sun panels on their roofs and back yards... I am not for sure how much one of them would cost but if it is relevantly inexpensive then it seems possible.. I saw on "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" a 14-year old kid built a sun panel out of pop cans and some glass to support his family...

Who would pay for the sun panels?

If i owned a company i would not want to be forced to do anything, thats for damn sure.

Well, like I was discussing with Shredderbeam is that maybe they not be forced, but awarded for doing so. Maybe cutting taxes or giving them something a huge company might need for the future. And just think... they may be saving themselves money by posting solar panels... If they aren't very pricey then they don't have to pay for electricity bills. That is of course depending on whether or not they cost much.

Well i agree with the tax cuts, but not the forcing of putting them on their buildings.

And i hear solar panels are quite costly :S

Oh, like I said... I wasn't too sure about the cost but it could possibly be cheaper if they found a more efficient way to make them... But otherwise...

Anyone else have any other ideas as to what we can obtain "free energy" from?

There was some kind of article, i forget where and how long ago it was, but they found a source at the bottom of the ocean, but when they try to bring it up it expands rapidly, dissolving. They said it could be used as an energy source if they could obtain it.

A source of what? Or a substance? Please try to remember more... this seems quite interesting. I haven't heard of something like this.

The coast for solar is way overboard,
It would be a great idea,
for all of us to live on that.
But I doubt its ever going to happen in recent time.

The problem with petroleum oil isn't generating electricity. We only use gasoline for a mere few percent of our energy supply.

It's PORTABLE electricity that is the issue. Coal will last for as long as our foreseeable future.

Science disproves free energy because energy must be in higher energy forms for it to be usable.

Well said. The concept of no free lunch also applies here. Solar energy is extremely difficult to harness to a degree where an entire house with a few important luxuries (except for the extremely wealthy), let alone a whole city or country.

It's called stem cells. You can create just about anything if you know the bio-genetic code of a particular substance. So we create a new energy source that is ever lasting (to our immediate understanding), efficient, and easy to maintain.

Basically you would draw from various elements, combine, some cold fusion, and wham... You have a new gas that makes space ships go ^.^.

Of course that's an exaggeration, it's actually much more complex, but put into layman's easiness, yes, that's about how the process works.

Over 300% increase in power production...maybe it's not that difficult to harness.

You can, but you want to have the energy output significantly greater than the energy input.

We truly need other legitimate alternatives that promote better things such as exercising on a bike that powers your house.. turning off lights when you don't need them, etc.

I hope that when the technology is fully developed, fusion power will be the future for electricity generation. We could mine helium-3 on the Moon to use as fuel.

Augmented reality technology is something else I think the future will be full of.

    See; http://www.howstuffworks.com/augmented-reality.htm

Or look at the nice self-explanatory pictures:
