    Meet your Meat.

I just find it completely disturbing beating an animal to near death, then having it hung in a slaughter house having it's throat slit and bleed to death. And, if you've seen how the animals are surrounded by feces, other dead animals, and diseases; why would you want such things to go into your body? I'd rather have a nature creature that lived a good life, in my stomach then one, that looks like they did in the video.

Finally, someone realistic has come to semi-agree with me.

Most animals like that are wild, and haven't had proper surroundings to go off of. Sharks only attack because we enter their territory and expect to be welcomed when they can only live off meat. I've never to to see a vegetarian Shark. If you have, please show. And Bulls harm people because we torture them for entertainment, etc. These habits are in their nature and would be expected. Do we really need to treat the food we it with such little respect? Give them a decent life so they have something to live for.

But the taste counts. If they tasted the same, or possibly even better than regular meat burgers, then the companies would switch to them.

Taste would count, but I don't think everyone would go vegetarian. I think simply everyone would protest how how animals are treated and would want the ways of the animals life-style changed. Like free-roaming animals for example, and if the industries didn't respond with a positive result. Then people would go vegetarian causing the meat industries to crash, then they may change their minds.

I don't eat meat, but that doesn't mean that it's because animals are abused... Your comment seems like a bit of a stereotype.

Face it, people want meat for as cheap as possible. The reason companies like McDonald's are so popular is the fact that they sell cheap food, meat in particular. Would people eat there if they charged way more because they treated the animals well?

Rationality is necessary to have any rights at all. Sensibility is merely the enabler.

Meh, I wouldn't mind if this were fish, but most mammals have the capacity to understand pain...

Meat tastes way too good to give up, but despite Shredderbeam's argument, for me, the treatment is fucked up.

I don't think they should completely get rid of meat products, they should just rationalize in how they treat the animals.

All rights essentially spring from the principle of self-ownership, which itself comes from the ability of man to use reason to survive.

    Meet your Meat.

Watching this video will realistically not make me stop eating meat, but I do not approve of the torture they put these animals through.

This may sound bad, but instead of letting them bleed out, why not just cut their head completely off? It would save time and suffering.

"100,000 pigs die before they even reach the slaughter house", Do you think if they improved the living conditions of those animals they would actually make a profit?

I also think there is no need to slaughter that many animals just for the sake of feeding people. The number of wasted lives in the process of feeding a few familys is unimaginable.

Well, at least those are my opinions.

That's still sad, but at least they wouldn't have to suffer. I guess I could agree with this method.

Then why can't there be a distinction between moral agency and eligibility for moral consideration?

Well to be eligible for moral consideration you must have rights, and to have rights you must have reason.

Unless you simply wish to treat animals nicely, in which case, you're welcome to.
