    Meet your Meat.

Hey everyone, just thought I'd show you how your meat is prepared.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIjanhKqVC4

It's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. I mean, how can you treat animals so cruelly when there living creatures just like us. This shows why vegitarians don't eat meat.

Give your thoughts on this. Hope you think twice before you eat meat.

Why shouldn't we treat animals cruelly?

    Meet your Meat.

Because they don't harm us in any matter do they? They're a living creature and we shouldn't have to hang them upside down and watch them bleed to death just to eat them. If people just ended the creatures life in a peaceful matter I'm sure many people that are vegetarians would consider eating meat again, and that would increase in profit for the industries providing.

Maybe, but why isn't it the industry's call?

Also, what objective moral reason is there to be against harming animals unnecessarily?

    Meet your Meat.

    1) The industry shouldn't make decisions in how to prepare the meat anymore because, people are starting to realize what they do to the animals and how the animals life-style is and it's just plain gross. The animals are getting diseases, rotting in their own filth, etc. and yet, you still are willing to eat that? People should have a say in what they eat. They should eat healthy, natural foods that don't involve this kind of torture.

    2) We shouldn't harm animals this way because, they've done nothing to us. We should give them some respect because they are harmless. All we do is drive them mad, and slaughter them for a little meat in return. Doesn't seem quite fair does it?

At least free-ranged animals get to live a life, that isn't in a 2 foot wide cage with 8 other chickens for example.

You're sick if that made you hungry.

People do have a say in what they eat. They're hardly being forced to eat the meat are they? If demand for a humane source of meat grows great enough, some enterprising capitalist will surely rise to fill it.

Even if they haven't done anything to us, why shouldn't we ignore this, and be cruel to them anyway?

    Seems perfectly fair to me.

It's not that we think they deserve to die, that's the way we feed ourselves. Everything is destined to one day die, and that is the way these animals have come upon their time.

Do you think animals would give a flying fuck if it was YOU who had to live in under such conditions? If the animals had the opportunity, they sure as hell wouldn't hesitate to eat you. Fact of the matter is that we are ranked higher than them on the food chain, and that gives us every right to treat them cruelly. In wild life, they would get attacked by their natural predators, torn apart by razor-sharp claws or teeth, and possibly eaten alive. Many predators eats their pray alive. It's the natural world, there's no morality, justice or emotions involved, only each creatures natural instinct - eat or get eaten.

After watching the video, I feel like eating a giant T-bone steak. ;)

If they're being sent to a slaughter house anyway, I don't see a problem in being "cruel" to an animal if it increases productivity and profit.

Besides, the video was made in cooporation with PETA. PETA is a terrorist organization and the golden rule of the western world iiiiiss... Never negotiate with terrorists.

I think animals deserve rights to some extent, and that realistically avoidable cruelty should be... avoided. Animals have emotions and their own social institutions. Humans have merely evolved some capacities which these other animals lack.

PETA isn't a terrorist organization. It does, however, have some tenuous links with 'terrorist' animal activist organizations.

I've seen it, and I think it's disgusting. But meat is what gives me adequate protein. It tastes delicious, and I really could care less about how the animals are treated. I need to eat.

    Meet your Meat.

This was taken directly from a comment on the YouTube video. Nice attempt at sounding smart.

Anyway; I think that this is only completely fair. Animals like Sharks and Bulls attack and kill humans all the time. Don't tell me you've never heard of an animal going on a rampage and killing someone?

But besides the fact, even if animals like chickens and Dairy Cows haven't harmed us, it's our natural way of surviving. If animals were at the top of the food chain, they'd treat us the same way. Don't be a moralfag and get all peace-loving treehugger and go on some rambling explanation of why we shouldn't treat animals like this, because we have no reason not to, and that should be enough for everybody.

    Meet your Meat.

    What happened to my post?

Anyways everything has to be approved by USDA. All animals have to be healthy, and living.

Seems like all these people are just caught up with the book "the jungle"...

Care to explain how I could've ripped it off from a comment on YouTube, when I posted it on Sythe before it was sposted on the video? Compare the times. The answer is simple - AdrenalineAndLove is my youtube account and I posted it on the video too. Slightly edited on YT though, as I was 80+ characters over the limit. ;)

The head staff of PETA themselves have been encouraging terrorist actions, as well as paying $70k a month to convicted arsonist Rodney Adam Coronado, and it is listed as a terrorist organization by the Bush Administration.

I encourage everyone to watch these three videos, from Penn & Teller: Bullshit! show. Entertainment and educational, guaranteed.
    Penn & Teller: Bullshit - PETA 1
    Penn & Teller: Bullshit - PETA 2
    Penn & Teller: Bullshit - PETA 3

Each video is around 10 minutes long.

EDIT: also, a little fun fact about PETA: in 2007, they killed over 90% of the animals they took into care. Read more about that here: http://petakillsanimals.com/petasdirtysecret.cfm

If everyone turned into vegetarians, wouldn't many food businesses such as Burger king, McDonalds, etc. fall?
