How long do you think the game has left?

MMORPGs tend to have a hefty lifetime - I'd reckon another 10 years before a decline will happen.

 

Around 5 years is when the player count would start to decay noticeably.

I feel with the state of botting currently its going downhill fast, few years i would say

I feel like at most the game has another 5 years Jagex really need to think about all communities rather than just catering to PVM aswell as trying to get to new players into the game. Some of the ads Ive seen them make are horrible.

 

Some of these predictions are whack. OSRS is their bread and butter, they will do everything they can to stretch its life. 10+ years at least.

 

Jagex care more about rs3 than they do old school. Player numbers don't mean anything when at least half the game is bots on old-school while rs3 has botwatch and almost no bots. Jagex care more about rs3 atm because it makes them a lot more money just off the microtransations the game has and its evident that rs3 is making more due to the size of the rs3 team compared to oldschools. If they truly cared about old school they would actually higher someone competent enough to make a botwatch equivalent for old school as well as try to cater to all communities rather than to just pvm and skilling.

 

I think it will keep growing for a long time and probably pass its original 280k player peak. There is all kinds of new content and many ways to play now between Leagues, Iron Man, HCIM, and the game is combining the best of pre-EOC and RS3. India and China will be strong emerging markets.

 

I'd roll with about 6-8 years. The reasoning being that the bot farms are increasing and the GP inflation is absurd. I haven't met too many new players, but I also only hang around skilled PVPers, PVMers. I would love to see it make it much longer than that though.

 

The game is over when they introduce lvl 90+ weapons and armor OR increase max lvls past 99.

I would be all for allowing leveling skills past 99 if they offered only cosmetic upgrades. People already do this and it would incentivize more people and act as a gold sink ^^

 

i feel the game could carry on for quite a long time, jagex do need to move with the times abit though even if it is "oldschool runescape" which now days in my opinion would be easiest to do via plugins etc to attract more players, 1 of them being hd graphics i think would benefit the game and maybe draw in new players without pissing off everyone else.

 

It will easily last our life time , if people continue to play .

 

I think they will add Osrs to Steam so maybe more people coming. I am excited to see what happens

 

I personally think that if gold drops below .3 per mil a lot of people are going to switch to rs3 maybe
