World War III

Not too long ago, there was a possibility of an all-out-war after Russia invaded Georgia and took control of some key points (including cities) and blocking off some areas.

What's your theory on WWIII - do you think it will happen? When do you think it may happen? Are there any ongoing problems that may start this?

I'm thinking of oil. We're running out of this resource pretty fast - and the countries are demanding more and more of it every day. With all the other minor (yet possibly fatal) arguments & wars ongoing - it may spark a war over the last oil rigs. Power will go out, people will start rioting [since we're not use to being without power for long periods of time] and anarchy will soon take over.

I know this has been debated about for a long time, but I want to hear your opinions.

 

Based on the events preceding World War II and the following actions of America, it will probably happen. We are overly confident that we will out-nuke any other country we have any kind of conflict with, so we go around pissing people off, not really caring what the hell we do, etc., etc. If someone up there at the White House (hint hint) doesn't start giving a fuck, then World War III is inevitable, and will, most likely, will occur in the near future.

 

But if another World War does come about, It's just going to be nukes being fired from country to country, pretty much the end of the world?

I don't think there will be another world war simply because of nuclear weapons... Nobody can win in a nuclear war. If a problem does come up, then they will probably talk about it and sort it out that way.

 

right now America is the most powerful country in the world, that's a fact.
China and Russia is arguably behind us.

the possibility of any countries wanting to fight us in a world wide war, is very slim.

as we have quiet a few numbers of other powerful country's and North Korea, Russia, etc. Are pretty scared of us.

 

I think World War III will be because of Oil because of above reason.

WW IV on the other hand, will be on water. Look at the price of a bottle of water and a bottle of soda, the soda is the same price if not more. Pretty soon water will turn into the new oil, where oil will go, I can't predict, but we are likely to burn it all up in the next 100 years.

WW III should not happen due to the nukes, all you need is one country to fire their nuke and the moment they fire ALL countries that have nukes (allot of them have allot more than just 1) will fire them, it will just be a nuke war and thats what scars people the most, the fact that if a war was to start then the first person to use their nuke could end the world

 

Your statement on natural resources may just be the truth. Honestly we only have so much material we can produce. It's not like we can grow oil like we do with food. By having these resources become limited we may fight for our world.

We aren't going to fight over water; Ice caps will keep melting - making more water.

You can turn salt water into drinking water... And even mountain water, it's going to keep raining so the water will keep coming :huh:

 

I personally think that the global warming will make the world end before another world war starts. But, on the other hand... It could happen at the same time.

 

The sad truth is that Wars are started by greedy old bastards and we just obey and do the dirty work.

Cold war wasn't really that much of a war... Sure, fights broke out from time to time, but it was mainly just a build up of tension and an arms race between the USA and USSR.

is it just me or i think the Arab-israel conflict is the most likely to ignite a WWIII?

all it takes is a few jewish radicals blowing up the al-Aqsa mosque in jerusalem and the whole world goes to war.

btw- the jewish radicals scenario is not too far-fetched, it was tried before, but the israeli government and the Al-Aqsa mosque guardians managed to stop them.

 

Its in our nature to argue over power, it is possible that we break out into another WWIII, BUT I highly doubt it because almost every country has access to Nuclear technology, weapons of mass destruction, etc. and we know that if needed we can use them, and so can they so to avoid basically blowing the shit outta every1 and whiping out the human population we probably wont go into another war

 

Not with our current president and his method of dealing with problems. We think we are this big, strong, invincible country that can just get away with anything and not worry about the consequences because Bush just cares about how many nukes we have, but really, if all of our enemies were to band together and go to war with us, considering all the enemies we've made, we'd lose. World War III could be viewed, to an extent, as the end of the world.
