He is a truly amazing guitarist. He was only 15 when he played New Canon Rock, and I believe he is 17 in "Jam on Voodoo Child."

 

look up his final version of canon rock.

 

Listening to it now. So far sounds the same. Should be interesting.

 

Doing Voodoo Child is a much greater achievement than New Canon Rock, everyone knows that song these days.

 

Indeed he's very good. I never did a cover of canon, maybe i should make my own version too.

But honestly it doesn't matter how old you are, it matters how long you have played and the dedicated time you put into it. As many many many people say it takes a year to learn the rest is just getting practice. On top of that neither of these songs are particularly hard.

What guitar would you guys recommend for a beginner?

 

Look for a Strat Pack or something like that, its about 200 Dollars and you get a good beginner guitar and amp. I'll see if I can get a link.

WRONG. Don't get a strat pack. Trust me, after you learn how to play you won't want to be stuck with a fender and a 10w. Really, all you need is an acoustic-electric (so you have a descent amount of frets wherever you go), an ipod or something to learn things by ear (which i reallly recommend after you learn the basics, learn things by ear to develop your ear for music) , or ultimate-guitar to just get some songs down quick.

 

Deadzone, may I remark to your guitar skills with a simple, "Holy shit." I'm still in the learning process of my guitar. Ten months in now so I'm hoping what you said about the one year thing is correct because I hate not knowing how to play parts to songs. Again, "Holy shit"

 

Why waste money on something you don't even know if you're going to like? Just because you think you like something don't mean you do. You could be wasting a good amount of money on it otherwise.

Also the fender squier pack is great and sounds better than a lot of guitars almost double it's value. On top of this you can also take it to your local music shop when you're ready to upgrade and trade in.
