    Guitar Hero: World Tour

So we all know that Guitar Hero is probably one of the best games on the market today. The Guitar Hero line has released six games, everything console from PlayStation 2 to the Nintendo DS have a variation of the brand. Guitar Hero has revolutionized all of console gaming. Just recently Rock Band was trying to steal the light of Guitar Hero, although not being as successful as the wimpy guitar, Rock Band found it necessary to release and entire band. Today October 26th, 2008, Red Octane has released Guitar Hero: World Tour. This game has brought a new view on the music gaming industry. Alike Rock Band, they released a drum kit as well as the microphone with the new and improved Guitar Hero guitar. Last night at approximately 11:30 my friends had received their personal copy of the Band Bundle. The Band Bundle comes with the following: Guitar Hero: World Tour, Guitar Hero Guitar, Drum Kit and Microphone. Now, I had played this from 11:45 AM until 5 AM. My review of the Wii version is not too pleasant. So far as I have seen on the game for the Wii there are many faults, such as; faulty Drum Kit, impossibly and terribly difficult singing, a shitty play list, and horrid graphics. As for the Drum Kit, they made it much more advanced then the Rock Band version. They now have three pads and two cymbals. Red, Blue and Green are you toms and snare. Yellow and Orange are your cymbals which are lifted away from the toms on adjustable poles. The drum set also requires you use the bass as well. Now as I am used to the Rock Band version of drumming, I was quite impressed and disgusted with some of these features. The features I find quite nice are things such as; The pads will always match up to what you are playing, so Yellow will always be your hi-hat. I also like the set up, as well as there aren't any poles that need to go on the bottom like Rock Band's. The other neat thing is that, unlike in Rock Band when you are waiting for a fill to use star power, you can just hit the bass and cymbals at anytime and it activates your star power. The things I hate the most about this shitty set-up is that the damn pads work like shit! I would be playing the cymbals and whenever it felt like working it would. I also dislike on the Wii version (I am unsure of if any other version has this or not) that the pads on the actual drums do not move you up or down, you need to get up, and use the joystick which is on the drum kit. Next, the microphone, we played two songs with this impossible thing. There isn't much to say about a microphone but I dislike the way you actually sing on the game. I am just happy they made it so you can press A or B on the Wii-mote at any given time and it will activate star power. Now onto the Guitar, this thing is amazing. They added new features such as the slide bar, when you see notes that have a purple ring on the bottom, you can use the slide bar you "catch" the notes, these notes can also be played without strumming and used as hammer-on's even if you miss the strum. The guitar also has a nice strum bar, it's like the Rock Band one with looks and feel, which is comfortable, but still gives you that nice determined click and definite strum. The newest thing is the star power button which you can easily hit with your wrist. So, I am going to get my 360 version tomorrow, have you guys pre-ordered it also? Do you have it now? Do you like it? Discuss.

    Thank you sir leech-a-lot.

Guitar Hero doesn't suck. It is entertaining. You obviously don't have friends, because if you did you would know that it is one of the best things to do while just sitting there.

Rock band is still better than guitar hero drum wise, because guitar hero likes to make things impossible to play...
The drums on it aren't even enjoyable because they are so hard. Rock band has maybe 2 songs on it that are pretty hard and those 2 are Everlong and Visions. You just can't beat the original creators.

Eh.. Guitar Hero is alright. I have some respect for the game, since so many people are so good at it.

    I just prefer FPS. :)

GH is a cool and fun game to play with friends/alone, but when people think they they're all that for 100% FCing a song it gets me pissed.

I agree, I like how they still have the spirit of the guitar still in the game. But they would be less successful if only it was a guitar.

Guitar Hero is just trying to make their stand, if they don't make a good fight then they will fall. They are just punching Rock Band out of the sky with better things like the song maker and create a character.

I find the drums on Guitar Hero: World Tour impossible, they aren't in a neat order when displayed on the screen. Also the cymbals are confusing.

This is true, but it is still quite fun is what I am getting at.

Yes there is a DLC section for the Wii now. But Guitar Hero III still doesn't have DLC for the Wii version. The DLC as far as I know for Guitar Hero: World Tour for the Wii version is Metallica, their new album Death Magnetic. I have that for Guitar Hero III and I guess it works with Guitar Hero: World Tour also, it is fun to play on Guitar Hero III though.

I play the real drums, when I go to play Rock Band or Guitar Hero: World Tour on Expert drum tour, I find it impossible. Picking up a real instrument is a lot different than plastic.

Which one? The one where one person comes in with a t-shirt on only and is dancing with the guitar? Or the one with Tony Hawk and they bring in the whole band.

i dont need to get better bud i have played rock band 1 for like 5 months and rock band 2 since the day it came out...and on top of that i've been drumming for 7 years. The way the notes are layed out is horrible for a drummer and it's definitely not fun. I say get it if you play guitar, otherwise just get the rock band 2 drums and game disc and save a few bucks.

    Guitar Hero: World Tour

I'd buy it if my house wasn't broken into yesterday. So my PS3 was stolen, now i don't have any console to play it on.

The game that'll make me re-buy a PS3 will be Final Fantasy XIII and XIII Versus. Currently, nothing else for PS3 interests me. Sure Guitar Hero is fun while it lasts, but i get bored of games when i beat them. This new Guitar Hero does sound great with all these extra features and instruments etc. But i'd rather spend money on better things.
