    Abortion?

I don't agree. My reason is one word, and one word only.

    MURDER.

    Abortion?

It's only murder if the fetus has rights. Why does it?

    Abortion?

shreddar, i dont condone to it under certain circumstances, i was quoting someone else that said that, because if you read i clearly stated i do not support it under any circumstances,

oh bama, i like how you say you only condone to it under certain circumstances, but im guessing by your sythe account username you support obama which supports it as an overall womens choice, not just under certain circumstances.

tj i know what you said, but my point is the insignuation i got from the context of what you said was that your obviously saying the father has no rights, u clearly said the mother carries it, in defense to me saying that the father should have a right also.

    Abortion?

In your personal opinion you can decide wether or not you believe a fetus deservces/has rights, and why or why not, in the legal system abortion is legal but there have been many cases where a pregnant women is killed or injured and as a result the baby is killed aswell and in those cases the killer of the women gets another charge for another murder, for example the laci peterson case and the law passed after that incident. im not taking a stand point at the moment on this regarding the legal rights or such, but i just wanted to bring this to your minds of how the court system, and judicial branch of our government handles it.

    Abortion?

A large proportion of 12 year old girls can get pregnant. Are they old enough to bring up children?

    Abortion?

Thing is, people don't just have abortions for fun. There's ought to be a reason why the baby can't be raised in a stable enough environment.

Maybe the baby is surely going to die at birth? Abortion would be the right thing then, I believe, to decrease suffering.

I agree that people should be able to make their own choices. People who have abortions aren't doing it to be cruel, they are doing it because they believe it is the best thing to do within the circumstances.

    Abortion?

On the contrary, me and many others support abortion simply because we hate kids.

    Abortion?

I personally am 100% pro-choice. While I sometimes disagree with the decision (such as if the person was like screwing everybody not caring about the possible effects) and feel like the MOTHER deserves some form of punishment, why punish a baby by giving it a horrible life? Getting an abortion has been proven to increase stress and emotional instability dramatically. However, is it fair to force a rape-victim or someone who gets unlucky with a broken condom to have to give birth to a child and then either raise it or give it a way? I really don't think so.

    Abortion?

When does a human gain the right to life, then?

    Abortion?

A human gains the right to life when it can rationally think, which as we all should know a FETUS does not have. It has been proven that fetuses do not feel pain. Why does a fetus deserve rights that even some HUMANS don't have?

To clarify, this means that humans first begin to get rights at round two or three years of age, correct?

    Abortion?

Come on dude, you know what I meant. Obviously, not think reasonably - I meant like feel and sense emotion. Sorry, it's like 1:00 AM here. I'm no anatomy expert or anything, but I know that fetuses in the early stages do NOT feel pain or emotion, but newborn babies do.

Fetuses in the fairly early-middle stages and later can feel pain. Do they have a right to life?

Also, why does the ability to feel pain confer a right to life?

    Abortion?

Don't think I'm trying to change the subject, because I'm quite enjoying this - but what end of the spectrum do YOU personally fall? I've seen you take both sides of the spectrum - or are you just playing devils advocate :p?

Anyways, why does a FETUS deserve rights? Are you saying it should be illegal to masturbate, or for a girl to have her period (obviously irrational), because those "actions" are killing potential babies? How come only when a sperm BONDS with an egg does the combination deserve a right to live?

I have read of numerous court cases where a woman has intentionally killed her unborn child, and watched an episode of Law & Order on the subject, and even a fetus days from its birth can not feel pain - it was not ruled homicide, it was ruled "unauthorized abortion" but it doesn't even really matter. THat was just random.

Seriously though, the ability to feel emotions determines the right to live. It's not like the baby has a DESIRE to live until it is born - or anyways, until it has FEELINGS...this is a really, really stupid analogy so PLEASE make fun of me as much as you can for it, but should it be illegal to like, oh I don't know, bite your fingernails because you are killing living matter? And should it be illegal to kill animals? [oh shit why did I bring that up...]

I'm playing devils advocate - I do it all the time.

I'm a believer that rationality grants rights. In the case of humans, rationality sets in around 3-4 years old.

Why does the ability to feel emotion grant rights?

    Animals have feelings.

http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/short/294/8/947 - According to this study at least, we're talking pretty far in for fetal pain. There's a lot of controversy about this issue though.

Response to external stimuli or interaction with the environment is arguably one of the factors that make a human a person, thus the question of pain is important.

I don't see why an ability to feel pain grants rights.
