So faith is a "knowing", then - which is non-empirical. Watch out, that "knowing" can often be mistaken.

Also, I wonder how your "knowing" fits in with the "knowing" of others who simply "know" that Nirvana exists, or that three goddesses created Earth, etc.

    Well of course!

It was a sarcastic comment meant to disparage your use of "I'll pray for you".

In all honesty, I don't believe in things I cannot see.
    But that's my own choice.
    I have no religion.
But, I have "prayed" for two things in my life, and the next day what I wanted happened, I'm not sure if that had to do with anything, but it doesn't make me a believer, because things can happen.

lol, shreddar and the rest of you saying senseless stuff need to learn what the word god even means, its mostly a word used to generalize a category of 1 or more higher beings, and who says he has to live in the sky, also this thread said god, so its a very wide selection. the christian god is jehova,

That's great. It's pretty obvious that we are mostly discussing the Christian God. That's not to say that every other form of God people "know" they believe in is true, because it's untrue as any other.

Says the one with the pentagram as a avatar lol, guessing you're just a Slipknot fan, not a satanist.

You could open your mind a bit because there is even evidence for God's existence rather than evidence against him.

She probably meant things that she cannot empirically detect.

I said on the first page that I was referring to the Christian God, but thanks for your input.

Lol yes slipknot fan... There not a satanist band if thats what your implying *not saying you are*. Pluse half of them are christian, its just a band ;)

And I know there is alot of evidence that proves he does exist.
I just dont pay attention to the "evidence" that goes against him.

What sort of evidence proves he exists?

How do you allow yourself to be so ignorant? Isn't that a pretty self-deceiving way to live your life?

You misunderstand me. Why would you just deny what anyone else has to say to you? What do you have to gain from that? Wouldn't it be better to hear the whole story before you decide you know the ending? I'm not telling you your life is awful, just this one decision is.

Again, what evidence do you have of God's existence?

Alright then tell me, What makes you belive god isn't real.
And have you even botherd to looked at evidence proving he is real?
Or do you just not belive in him, because you belive he cannot be energy, or real beyond our sight?

Direct empirical evidence? I'd love to hear it.

    How is that rational?

    Lack of evidence.

I cant prove what exactly happend,
Just like george washington, all we have is written papers, and a few paintings, and we chose to believe he is real lol..
So why cant it be the same for god?
if you get where im coming from shredder.

For all we know he could've wrote his name and said he did so and so.
And it could have never happend! Im not saying G.W Wasn't real, and what he did wasnt real, cause i do, it was just an example. The point is there will never be a way for us to 100% prove he is real, but for me i will always 100% believe he is real.

Actually, we have fairly extensive evidence regarding George Washington. Also, his existence as a man is not a highly remarkable thing. Men exist, we know this. God, on the other hand, is not known to exist, so the maxim "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" applies here.

What on Earth are you on about?
