Which Music Genre "Corrupts" Children the most?

I believe that music does NOT affect you at all and it definitley doesn't corrupt children...
Reasons
1. The music is usually something the singer wants... has experienced... or is thinking about
2. All music is poetry... and the only difference is it is sung with music.. pointblank simple as that

 

maybe not the genre but maybe the artist and ppl who sing them

It depends, what do you see more? Emos or wanna be gangsters? Well emos don't turn emo just because they heard that life sucks in a song, they do it because they themselves are depressed and since they're depressed they like depressing music. Wanna be bad asses are influenced by music first, not by a feeling that makes them want to listen to the music and act like what the musicians say. So in conclusion rap corrupts kids the most, but some people are just not affected by music. I listen to Screamo and a little bit of emo, and I'm not depressed.

 

I really doubt it's the actual music or lyrics that influence the person listening. It would be the culture surrounding it. Music would only be a part of that culture. The person's life becomes engrossed in that lifestyle first, i.e. the people they hangout have those tendencies, they tell them it's ok to do these destructive things as well, they DO those things. It's easier to do immoral things guilt-free when a group does them with you and says that it's accepted .Of course, all this assumes the person is trying to be the faggot scenesters we see at the mall and those are usually teenagers.

It also takes a certain background for the effects of the culture to set in to a serious degree. I.E. with rap, the person has little positive oppurtunity/role-models in their life, so they turn to what rap and the culture surrounding it projects. Or with emo/metal, the person has suicidal tendencies(the extreme) they most likely have prior reasons or mental problem that drove them towards that conclusion, which can range from a number of traumatizations. I agree with the people who ridicule the people who do it for the sake of being that way. Even if it's a serious problem for some person, I doubt I'd care enough to help them. But if that person was a close friend/loved one, and they were cutting themselves for whatever reason, I'd fucking care. Of course, these are using very broad and generalized terms(emo/screamo and rap). It's a combination of things(not all listed here of course) that corrupts, not just the music makes a bad person, although it does play a role.

I voted rap, however I don't think music really corrupts us. It only does if we allow it. However I do think rap is despicable and should be banned from the face of this planet. All it talks about it drugs, sex, money, killing, and every other gang related scenario out there.. There is nothing wrong with metal, however I hate screemo (just makes my head hurt). So, yeah like I said, it only corrupts you if you let it, but if I had to choose I would say rap no dout.

 

Why can't I sing about whatever I want? Upon what basis do you come along and determine that I cannot speak a particular arrangement of words?

 

I never said you can't. Obviously you can, because rap is the most popular music genre there is. All I said was my opinion.. I personally hate it, and if you asked me why I think it corrupts children I would tell you the same thing I did before.. your also missing the part about where I said 'i don't think music corrupts unless you allow it too.. Rap sells the most, stupid people buy it thinking it means something, if you ever listened to rap you would realize they are just throwing words together..

 

Is it not the same with all vocal music?

It isn't the same, rock has a meaning and most rock songs have a lesson to teach, or its just there to guide you through something, or make you feel good. Rap is a mixture of words that make no sense. Oh, and Im just used to writing '...' its a habit. wasn't going to say anything else lol

Last time I listened to a rap song it made sense to me.

 

Im saying that 95% of rock songs, and other genres have meaning. While 5% of rap songs do. You can't honestly tell me that rap makes sense lol. Okay maybe 1 or 2 songs with meaning but the majority is nonsense.
