Need some advice on my ranger.

Well first some background.
It all started in late 2k4

I wanted to pk when rs2 came, but all my old rsc pkers sucked since they all had 9 hp, so from 1 range to 63 i pked, all the time (well did kill some giants while waiting for people to come around to kill)

Then i figured since he did awesome in f2p he would do great in p2p aswell, well i was WRONG! I got severly owned in p2p and so i started to get def (Wich at the time really sucked!) So when i had gotten 30 def i scrapped him and kept on playing on my main. In mid 2k5 i was extremely bored wih RS and quit (Until just 2 months ago) I tried selling him since i still deemed him as useless but had no luck, BUT BOY WAS THAT LUCK!

Come a few days ago was the new pvp worlds, and he does great! (In f2p)
So now i need to make him better, he need to get ready for some p2p action!

Stats:


My plan as of now is to:

Get 40 def
Get 85+ Range
Get 85 Magic (For TB)
Maybee get 50 att and 80ish strenght.
And even more maybee (i have no clue) prayer? Lvl 26 (protect item, hawk eye) or 44 (All protects and Eagle eye) or 52 for smite? Myself i have the feeling 1 pray is the way to go.

But since i've been gone for so long theres alot i dont know, and here comes the bit where i need your help!

What bow should i be using? Atm im using MSB and i also have a rune c-bow in bank.
Im guessing rune arrows are outdated, but what ammo should i be using and why?
Also what quests will i need to do, will i need any prayer or get any prayer xp if i do rfd up to mith gloves (can i maybee even get higher gloves?)?
Same question regarding DT (If i recall i need pray to complete that or get pray as a reward.)
Any other quests i should do?

you have alot of work ahead of you...
for mage, i suggest to just get 82, and get ancients, and for range, 90++ would be the best. also, get 52 prayer for smite, and maybe get 70 def instead of 40? becouse ranger's have a rather low cb, so you can max in middle crater, and do good with PvP worlds.

 

Indeed, i reccomend;

90 Range
82 Magic
50 Attack
50 Strength
45 Defence (Already 38, might aswell get Neitiznot Helmet)
52 Prayer (You need the range+ bonus)

You'll need at least 44 in all melee stats ( I think ) in order to get Full Void from Pest Control, which i suggest you do.

You'll need Avas device aswell from the Animal Magnetism quest to pick up your arrows.

When Pking use Rune crossbow with diamond bolts (e) then switching to dragon bolts (e) for the KO.

 

Yea i agree with guy above me except its 55 def for Neitiznot Helm :/

But id say be a range tank.

50 att
50 str
70+ def
90+range
52 Prayer
82 or 94 mage

Then when your pking wear ahrims or mystic and a good def helm, then freeze them with ice blitz/barrage and range them with wat ever method you like the best. i do this on a smaller scale of 75 range and 70 mage with 20 def with mystic and it owns

Thanks for the input you guys, im especially thanksful for the tips on using diamond/dragon bolts, all that kind of stuff i dont know!

Anyways, a little update then.

So far i havn't played alot but i did reach 40 def yesterday and will be going for 45 in the short-term (For ranger helm) after that i'll go for 82 range/mage (potted TB)

And then i'll pk some and try it out and get a feel for it.

Long term goals now are:
90 Range
85 Mage
70 Def (Once i get 90 Range, 50 def when i hit 80 range, 60 def when i hit 85 range)

I will also try and keep my 1 pray for as long as possible, if i notice pking is worthless without Ice Blitz (yes i'll not get barrage, its too much work for such a little improvement)

Though i will most likely get 26 pray once i hit 85 range (and 52 when i start getting close to 90)

Critizism as long as it is constructive is still welcome, and none of my goals is set in stone! So please do tell me YOUR opinion.
