Profiting From New PVP (My Guide)

With the recent release of PvP worlds, quite a lot of players are up in arms about the apparantly poor drop rates. The reason why you are getting poor drops is because you are PKing poorly (in the game's eyes).

In the old style of the wilderness, you could get a PK and then run to the bank to restock and get ready for your next kill, and then still have a chance at getting some decent loot. This will no longer work, since the time spent out of a safe spot is taken into account when the game calculates your drop.

It also takes account of how many PKs you have got in a row, the items you are carrying, the items the enemy is carrying, and a few other factors.

The combination of these means a drastic reform of how people see PKing is going to be necessary in order for people to get the most out of this update. PKing old-wildy style is GONE, and PKers are going to have to adapt or give up.

The main focus of PKing is going to switch from concentrating solely on attack (downing an opponent quickly) to endurance (being able to hold your own against multiple enemies in series, for a length of time).

Those who learn how to do this will be the ones who get by far the best drops.

So to conclude, try and get rid of the images in your mind about old-wilderness PKing, and embrace the new age.

This was posted by a Jagex mod, and basically states the even if you only stake 25k your chances are the same as risking lets say 500k. the system is now based more on ENDURANCE. What does thie mean?


DEFFENSE IS VITAL!

Sorry, I know its something you dont want to hear, but its going to be essential to the 'NEW PVP' and we will all have to learn with that in order to profit from the new system. In order to get better loot we will need to make around 4-5 kills without banking. How is this possible even with a high defense level you ask.

Where skilling and friends come in.

The way i have though to have enough 'endurance' is to get food and arrows ect. without banking. There are two ways i ahve devised that should increase PK'ing profits. The first is to fish and cook food when ready for food, while the second would be Having a friend trade it to you. These are both my ideas and i hope you like them.

The Methods

Go into a semi-deserted hot-zone that has people going to and from major citites(Such as the road leading from lumby to varrock) Keep it 1v1

Have a friend come with you and make him bring food, Or use the other prementioned method.

Kill at least 4 people consecutively, and begin receiving decent loot.

Conclusion
Well' I hope you enjoyed my guide, the methods took me around 30 minutes in total to come up with and im sure this will help you in the future to come. This is no longer the Wilderness we grew to love, but Damnit its all we have and we have to make the best of it.

 

Decent guide, most of this is common sense though.

It seems that the new "Ultimate PKer" is a strength/def pure, possibly with a decent Prayer level.

No banking trips needed for runes or arrows would allow them to survive for a long time on the food recieved from drops without having to bank.

This makes alot of sense. After trying it on my zerker pure and realized how bad it is without def, I am selling my pure and I MIGHT make a range tank because range tanks will be the new way to pvp.

All of the old pures still have a place, especially in the highly concentrated, increased loot areas like Varrock Square and Lumbridge. Here, they'll own just like they did in the old days.

The defense tank's unique advantage is that they can survive long trips through the world into the more remote areas better then other pures, allowing them to take advantage of certain loot-increasing factors.

Tanks are more suited to long range search-and-destroy missions through the countryside and the wilderness, but they can't match up to a good zerker or maul pure in the fast-paced, close-combat situations that you'll find in hotspots like varrock and Lumbridge.

Each have their place.

 

Yes, you're right in the fact in that Zerker pures will do better than tanks, but not necessarily good enough to profit from the new PVP. They would not survive more than 3 consecutive kills before having to bank. They would however, be able to get as many killsas possible then have a friend bring them food. The reason for a friend to bring them food is so that they will not get decreased drops for banking. A mod on Jagex said that the game does not view banking after every kill as "good pk'ing".

 

I just realized all this like 20 minutes before I read your post XD. That pking from the olden days isn't going to work anymore. You'll have to be out pking for hours at a time. It'll be fun getting a team and just wandering for hours and killing XD. I guess with that, you'll get the old pk run-ins too. I wonder how those will factor in. I guess the only suitable way to pk is solo-ing for a profit. God, I hope those high-level wildy pk run-ins come back, those were the best fucking part about old wildy.

 

I will try killing like 5 friends with 100k gear and see what will be the drops

 

That's a good idea, if you document each drop we can find out if this is going to be a sensible way to RWT or not.

so if u have to run into a safe zone to kill somebody but u are out before the ten seconds have expired u should still be able to get rare and better drops yes?

 

I'm banking all the time , but i fight Armor on since the update.
The longer fights lasts , the better loot your getting !
