American In Recession! A Global Recession to follow ??

The local market fell after Wall Street shares closed lower despite the US government unveiling a plan inject $350 billion into banks in a bid to restart the frozen credit markets.

The market closed 0.8 percent lower as investors focused on the outlook for the global economy rather than the slew of recent banking bailouts announced around the globe. Earlier, a US Federal Reserve official said the US now "appears to be in recession and there are growing fears that the world will face a downturn.

How old is this, we will not go into a depression though, but for a recession, Germany, China, and Britain will follow.

Australian shares have plummeted again after Wall Street stocks suffered their biggest drop since the 1987 crash.

The benchmark ASX200 lost 5.5 percent in the first 20 minutes of trading after two days of relative calm. The market then fell as low as 6 percent, wiping $53 billion from the value of companies listed on the ASX200. The market closed slightly lower yesterday after two days of solid gains.

That was today, so what I posted yesterday was yesterday news. I think the world will end up going into recession, but hopefully it comes back without the high interest rates like 1990's. In early 1990 interest rates were 20-25%!!! At the moment in Australia interest rates are only 8-9%

I hate how when america gets in crap, We (Australia and really the rest of the world) has to smell it. God damn, Its not our fault you guys keep falling into a so called recession and so what if you do? Why should it be that when America catches a cold we all sneeze. Have your own problems ALONE there will be no global recession, BUT a american recession is a different story

It's not only the US, if China would get into trouble, or any other big country, other countries would feel it too, because of something called "the global market".
An Icelandian bank declared bankruptcy, and we feel it here in Holland, because people had money on that bank.

And yet America is the only economy that every one shits there pants when it goes down half a %, "Omg! SELL SELL SELL! America is in recession! THE WOLRD WILL END!"

No one does that when other markets fall... Why? Because every one thinks America is king shit when it comes to the economy and if they are stuffed, every one is.

Personally, even if America failed miserably, I believe that the Australian markets are steadily moving in to business with China. Kevin Rudd is a known asia-phile.

We've already started to.. only difference is, this one wont suck as much because we have a lot of wealthy people like Warren Buffet who are actually helping us up.

Why do you always talk down to people in SFA? If you're too smart then get along and post somewhere more komplekatud.

Your name seems to truly reflect in this here post. It's not America's fault that "the world sneezes" with us. We as Americans created the strongest economy - your post almost implies a bit of jealousy. If Australia doesn't want to "sneeze" then work more than 37 hours a week to create the best economy.

This post probably sounds arrogant - apologies.

The economy should bounce back cause of oil prices going down; which means gas prices go down, then we got a little extra money in our pocket, and we can spend it :) I'm thinking if the US Government would regulate oil prices AND gold we could avoid this kind of situation. Oh and any sheep followers of Sythe, Sometimes government regulations can HELP things.

Maybe the United States will find a excuse to initiate another World War to get itself out of this. Just like how the US got out of the Great Depression.

The US never initiated a world war. The First World War was caused by Austria-Hungary and the Second World War was caused by Germany.
    Learn your history ;)

And eventually, America, and all other countries suffering from the crisis will recover, all we need is time (= money).

If you read carefully,(although you may have read it differently) I am not saying the United States initiated any World Wars. I am saying the the United States might initiate another World War. "another World War" means exactly what it is. The US might initiate a new World War to try to get the same effects as the previous one: getting out of depression.
