Is your PC infected? Click here for help.

    Welcome to my guide!
Follow this step to step detailed guide (With pictures and links) and hopefully you'll be virus/spyware free by the time you reach the end of it!

(If you have MSN virus, un-install windows live messenger and re-install it after you're done with this guide - http://get.live.com/messenger)
1)Download and install these programs. (In order)
    2)Update them.
3)Run a full computer scan. (On maximum level)
    4)Remove suspicious files detected.
    5)Restart PC and re-scan.
6)DO NOT scan or run your anti-viruses ALL AT ONCE, one at time.
(After you're done, un-install all of them and just use AVG & CCleaner. You could still keep the other security products if you wish, but running them all at once may slow down your computer.)

    1) AVG(God of security freeware.)

    2) MalwareBytes(Pretty good in detecting viruses/spyware and such.)

    3) SpyBot S&D(Pretty good in detecting viruses/spyware and such.)

    4) F-Secure Black Light (Detects and Removes rootkits.)

    5) CCleaner(Cleans your computer really well.)

    6) Zone Alarm or Comodo (Good firewall and virus/spyware scan.)

    7) ComboFix(Run this once, and restart your PC. It's pretty good) (Before running ComboFix disable all your security software or it will lag the shit out of your computer and won't work correctly. Only use this if the above suggested programs did not fix the infection problem.)

All of the above software are free.

    8) Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 *Optional* (If you have followed the above steps and the infection still persists.) Get Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 Trial version.[/url](Or even buy it) and update it, do a full computer scan(On maximum level) and remove all the suspicious things it finds.

If even that doesn't work, just try random anti-viruses trials etc (Like SuperAntiSpyware , Nod32 , Trend Micro , avast! etc.) , go to some other forums which are made for the purpose of giving you help with removing viruses/spyware etc. (www.computing.net - www.icrontic.com/forum - www.thatcomputerguy.us - www.majorgeeks.com - www.spywareinfoforum.com).

Re-scan when you're all done and removed the viruses/spyware etc. Maybe it will detect some more.

If you have done everything I asked you to do and the infection still persists, go to Daily's thread and follow Daily's last step.

Don't download random stuff next time from people/company's etc that you do not trust, and scan everything you download with
    http://virusscan.jotti.org or www.virustotal.com
before you ever install, use or open a file.

Keep you PC updated with the updates from Microsoft(keep automatic updates on) and make sure Windows Firewall is on.

Update all of your computer's programs and such regularly.

Use Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. And get these addons :-

1)KeyScrambler - what it does: KeyScrambler Personal encrypts your keystrokes at the kernel driver level to protect your information from keyloggers.

2)WOT - what it does : WOT, Web of Trust, warns you about risky websites that try to scam visitors, deliver malware or send spam. Protect your computer against online threats by using WOT as your front-line layer of protection when browsing or searching in unfamiliar territory. WOT's color-coded icons show you ratings for 20 million websites - green to go, yellow for caution and red to stop – helping you avoid the dangerous sites. Surf safer and add WOT to your Firefox now. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3456

Things you should watch out for :-

    1) Recently and there has been an outbreak of msn related viruses for example. People from your from your list just randomly send you a file and say "Is this picture too sexy for MySpace?" , "Is this you?" or something along those lines to fool you into accepting the files they send which also contains the same virus your friend has (It's usually a .zip or a .rar file). Some people who have this virus don't even know it, they get online as usual etc and do not know they have been sending malicious files to the people on their list.

    2) Some viruses make you lose total control of your email and the nickname gets changed into something like "DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHO BLOCKED YOU? WWW.WHOBLOCKEDYOU.COM" or something like that and they log in, spam the people on their list, log out and come back on in a few minutes. Do not download the files hosted on such websites. (Couldn't find a pic for this, but it's obvious.) Or, they just log in every few minutes, spam the people on their list with "www.*******.com ;)". (Meaning do not visit random links your friends give you.)

    3) Some Porn websites - When you try to see any video in that website, it says "You need Active X download" or something along those lines, and when you click 'You need to download the Active X' (to make you actually thing you need it so you can see the video.) almost immediately, your computer becomes extremely slow and you will notice weird behaviors. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE ACTIVE X OR ANYTHING IT ASKS YOU TO.

    4) On msn, someone randomly says to you "Haha, is this you?" and send you a link to a website that looks exactly like Youtube but with a different link and the link contains your email, but when you try to view the video it says 'You need to download Active X' or something along this lines to make you actually think you need it so you can see the video. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE ACTIVE X OR ANYTHING IT ASKS YOU TO.

    5) Do not open emails from people/company's etc you do not know or trust.

    6) Be careful of torrents. (Remember to scan)

    7) Be very careful of phishers, always look at your address bar before entering your password in any of the websites you use.

    8) If you use msn, go to Tools < Options < File Transfer and Check 'Automatically reject file transfers for known unsafe file types' and Check 'Scan files for viruses using' and select your anti-virus or download and install windows live one care scanner for MSN and it will automatically scan any files people send you over MSN.

    9)Download McAfee SiteAdvisor, it's a must have - http://www.siteadvisor.com/

PS: Change all your passwords when you're done, like msn, Sythe etc.

    PSS:
Read this guide when you're all finished and the viruses are removed. - http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=464527

Hope this thread helped you solve your problem ^_^ . If you need extra help regarding your computer protection, add my msn - [email protected]

Oh and I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and CCleaner, to people who can't afford it, use AVG FREE or avast!. :)

    Be careful and happy computing!

Pretty good ... However installing many protection tools slows down your PC .
Also - ZONE alarm used to slow down my dloads & free runescape . But besides these , it's great way to protect yourself :D

As I said, do not run all of these programs at once, one at a time. And after the infection is gone, just un-install them.

And Zone Alarm is a pretty good firewall.

You can browse any site you want and you won't get virsuses if you won't install or download anything from that sites, including activex.

There are some sites which secretly download files into your computer.

Oh and about the Active X, I know if you don't download it, you don't get infected but some people might be tempted to see the video etc.

    Olol :p

I know nothing about that :p. I think that the release candidate thing was given to random people before the release of AVG 8.0, It's out now so release candidate isn't available or useful anymore.

    And thank you :).

It's good. But I hate downloading lots and lots of shit to keep my computer clean. As long as you play it safe, and have knowledge of the tricks of the internet, you should be fine.

Well Tezlin, you only have to download all that if you have a very persistent infection, I only have KIS 2009 and CCleaner. You just download those if your current security software is not doing it's job right.

Oh and, you could and should un-install some of these software when you are done and the infection is removed and only keep a few such as, AVG+CCleaner or some combo like that.

    Why thank you :D.
