I think it's already been established that I DID believe. Your logic simply failed with the remarks you made about it earlier.

If he isn't dead, where is he?

No, I don't want to follow an imaginative storybook. Good observation.

So I have a choice whether or not I want to live for eternity in this place known as heaven, or live forever in a damned state. Either way I'm living forever. Either way I'd hate it. I enjoy the thought of dying after a fulfilled life, not going to a place to live forever, wherever it may be. If anything, and I was given a definitive choice on where to go, I probably wouldn't choose heaven anyway. A quick analogy, do you like sitting next to the person you hate most in class time, and so on?

I don't own anything. My parents own all the possessions that I use.

I don't push my beliefs on anyone that doesn't want to hear it.

Edit: technically, they gave me and my brother possessions. They've given us food to eat and a house to live under. Shelter etc.

The bible says to give away EVERYTHING, not share a roof and food. Does your parents wear clothes? they should give them to the poor. do they drive to work? they should give away there car.

Also, are you honestly saying you will go your whole life without owning a single thing?

Ok, you must not take everything so literally.

I'm going to go ahead and assume you know who Abraham is. If you don't, then there's an epic search engine calling you.
An angel appeared to him and basically told him that He wanted Abraham to sacrifice his son. After much distress and pondering, Abraham decided to do it. He strapped the boy to a table, and as he was preparing to do it, the angel returned and told him that it was a test to see how far Abraham was willing to go for God.

That's what I can remember from the story, I'm not sure if it's 100% from the bible, I basically summarized it to my memory.

Now if you actually read the rest of the passage that Shredder is so joyously quoting, you'd see:
We are tested everyday, and to test this man who happened to be wealthy, Jesus told him to give away all his possessions. It's so hard for these people to enter heaven because they are so unwilling to do whatever God asks them, unlike Abraham.

What a guy - he orders Abraham to murder his blameless son. What a role model.

What Jesus said was not a test, nor was it a metaphor for anything. He clearly and specifically told us that if we wanted eternal life, we would have to give away everything, and help the poor. Although, if the words of Jesus Christ himself aren't to be taken literally...I wonder what else can be interpreted in the Bible?

"On the mountain the Lord provides." (Genesis 22)

When I thought more about those gospel passages, I began to think more about the story of Abraham. Why can't it be a test? God clearly told Abraham that he had to sacrifice his son to him, thankfully his son was replaced with the sacrificial animal of the time.

Good for him. He still tried to get a man to murder his son. Good luck winning converts.

Ok, it can be a test: Give away all of your possessions, help the poor, and you pass.

He tried to see if the man would kill his son. He had no intention of allowing Abraham to kill him. We've done well enough when it comes to converts thank you.

Jesus didn't tell me to do it. He told a wealthy man from the first century to do it.

    Again, what a guy.

Jesus said that is how to be saved. Does it not apply to you?

The man asked Jesus what HE had to do, assuming he had indeed followed the commandments as he had stated.

So presumably, if one follows the commandments, and obeys what Jesus said, you gain a place in heaven.

Unless, of course, you're aware of an alternative route?

(Romans 13:8-10) Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. {9} The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not covet"; and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, "Love your neighbour as yourself." {10} Love does no wrong to a neighbour; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law.
