Need help with buying pc/laptop

well my laptop took a shit last night and kept giving me whea uncorrectable error messages like 6 times within a hour and then finally couldn’t get into windows exept for safe mode.

Looking for a desktop or laptop to buy this weekend , 1k price range can go up to 1500 if I got too,

Would be ordering off newegg or amazon and I live in USA , if It’s a huge difference in price I can build my own by watching videos I guess ?


The things I want from computer .
Light video editing like rs vids and league clips
Play atleast 3-4 rs clients
Play league in max settings
Play other games at min-med settings like overwatch/gta5
Has to have a ssd .
Already have a monitor/keyboard /mouse so don’t need those

 

My laptop is taking a shit too @midlanegod. I’d like to piggy back (if that’s okay with you) and ask for best laptops under $500 as well. SSD is a plus.

 

i7-7700k Asus with NVMe SSD would do you just fine. If you can find one with a GFX card for $1500 or under that would be great as well.

Is it worth it to get a i9 ?

 

If you need the additional cores yes. i7-7700k is 4 cores the i9 is 8 cores.

 

I just want the computer or laptop whichever I pick to last a solid 5-7 years

Nope, you have 1500ish budget so its not worth and you will not need it just buy i7 its good

 

An i5 of the latest generation is arguably on par or better than an i7-7700k. You’re not going to notice NvME performance on anything other than huge workloads

I’ve always had laptops but honestly no preference , right now I have a acer nitro laptop it has a i7 with a 1050 ti in it , loved it , worked amazing , and then I started getting these blue screens with whea uncorectable error on it , used to be once a day then it was like every hour , I did a full reboot , memory test , hardware test and it still does it so I’m just gonna buy a new pc

 

Your laptop is probably repairable if it just BSOD’s, do you have the error codes? Most common hardware related BSOD I think is failing ram if I’m not mistaken. You can also try downloading bluscreen viewer and it’ll give you in plain text what caused the BSOD which makes it easier to troubleshoot.

If you’re set on a new laptop the omen i linked you is a great value and better then your current laptop and not too expensive

No, it helps you read the dump file created when your PC blue screens.

The fact that you reformatted points to a hardware issue, if your Laptop isn’t overheating it’s most likely ram related.

 

Not overheating but I noticed after I did complete restore it is slightly laggier

Pretty sure that almost confirms hardware failure, which again mostly occurs with overheating.

I suggest downloading a temp monitor program and monitor the temp of ur laptop while in use, see if anything spikes. It could be ram failure or CPU failure. It could also even be outdated drivers.. hard to pinpoint sometimes so it’s best to test it all. Start first with overheating
