    Graffiti, art or not?

Graffiti isn't hard; it just takes careful planning. Managing where to place certain colors; hooks; accents, things of that nature.
I for one do not think that graffiti is vandalism; but a very beautiful artwork.

If somebody wrote "Fuck the Crips" or something I would consider it vandalism.

However, something like >this< is art.

    I'd say it's an art.
Some grafitti is sick, and some you wonder why they took the time to do it..

Where I live; there's a thin line between good and bad.
    There are 2 taggers worth mentioning here;
    SinK and Atak.
They both have too much skill to mention. They manage to get in the sickest places you could imagine.
But there's another one here; named Hint; and he thinks he's skilled.
    AtaK:

    He is pretty good.
    THAT is considered art.

Thats just like saying drawing isnt art. Anyone can buy a pencil and just

scribble it on a piece of paper. All you need is an imagination.

    Sounds stupid, huh?

Graffiti is definitely a art. It takes talent. Anything that takes work, and time,

    is considered an art.

Yeh, that stuff is street art. well the cop is anyway, there is a difference between street art and graffiti. Street art has more meaning, sometimes political ect. Mainly stencils.

    Graffiti, art or not?

The vile graffiti consistent of only the artists name is atrocious and disgraceful.

However, the graffiti where the artist takes time to perfect, and makes the art meaningful is truly magnificent. Some of them I walk past, and I really admire the time and dedication required to make such art.

However, the term art has been degraded so far in recent society that even throwing paint on paper is suddenly a work of art. So, graffiti in general is not art, some are just a repercussion of bored kids. Others however are truly worthy of the term art.

Sure it's art, but you didn't see Leonardo Da Vinci drawing the Mona Lisa under every bridge and in every alleyway..If graffiti artists kept there work to their own property and not publicly defacing buildings and things like that, then perhaps people would respect graffiti art more.

I'm into tagging, always out with mates writing our tags over buildings etc, but i know, this isn't art, it's just a hassle for people to clean, and that's why we do it.

Although, wildstyle graffiti etc, this is an art.

    Graffiti, art or not?

As far as I can see, the process of reason cannot be applied here to reach and objective end. Any 'debates' about art are, by their very nature, spurious: they are mere discussions. One cannot remark objectively upon the quality of art, or indeed whether a work qualifies as ''art''. We must accept that each human views each sensual occurrence individually and thus cannot hope to determine in any objective sense whether graffiti is or isn't art.
