[APPROVED] Clean Up Discord

It honestly is becoming as fuck fest. People creating roles left and right with no justification, random channels etc.


IMO these are what need to go to keep the Discord looking neat and reflect what the site actually is:

- Removal of $ specific donation ranks. Some claim this was implemented to reward the top-tier donators... doubtful. All this does is essentially show that only the 5% are appreciated, rather than the other 95% that donate to the site. You donate to support the site, and sometimes for specific perks that are already established. Again, this is just another platform for someone to potentially utilize their "false trust". Either mirror the site, and have roles for each Staff, Funrank and donation rank..... or don't.

- COMPLETED BY SHIN

- Move Voice Chat section below all text chat channels. This puts your informative sections first, rather than clutter above them. VC on the server is completely dead current-day anyway.

- Move TWC/DNT users above the community teams/ex-staff. This is a market after all and a discord that supports the market; keep the information about who NOT to trade in front of your audience.

 

No support, moving voice channels lower makes no sense because there's more text channels. Moving TWC/DNT above anything doesn't make sense either, they're scum.

Removal of private channels I support, maybe keep one for non-annoying people to be in when staff is there. Support on cleaning it up other ways, which Shin already did. Thanks SHIN.

 

We're doing this for the eighth time? Cool.

Step 1. Add cool channels/ranks people request.

Step 2. Have people complain on suggestions about them so remove them.

Step 3. Repeat from Step 1.

Not happening. If a lot of people are in the voice chat, nobody will be able to see it all the way at the bottom. Collapse the category if you don't want to see all the channels.

Making TwC/DNT users the face of the website sounds like a terrible idea.

Maybe take the time to actually think changes through.

You're telling me there is any justification to only allowing a $500+ donor rank, giving one OMM their own rank etc? It makes no sense, you're just appeasing to people.

You already have TWC/DNT users above all other users, why would it be a negative to be able to identify them promptly?

 

It's not an appeasement, it was added as an incentive for more people to donate and support Sythe. OMM rank allows people to quickly identify a trusted MM resource and rewards individuals for their contribution keeping our community safer. We do take the time. We discussed these things at length.

 

Little things such as UI, UT, name change are subtle enough to not be a p2w system. You are just putting visibility on the user even more, we know already that people use their donation amount as a sign of trust and you are only enforcing that. It's not right.

 

The rank is already added to their Sythe profile, it is now mirrored on the Discord client as most Sythe ranks are. And it's only for the people who have significantly contributed to Sythe.

I'm sorry you don't approve, you're entitled to that perspective. I think we've covered the topic, I'll leave it at that with you.

 

So you are now self-defining a "significant" contribution? How do you award those in the middle?

ie; A $750 donor is only granted $500 donor.

There is a $300 tier and a $500 tier, why is there not a perk/award for $400? You are picking and choosing where you shouldn't be.

If a person is a donator either give them the general "Donors" role, or put together yet another group of roles that match all of the donation tiers.

 

This has been approved and executed by Shin for the most part.
