    Should I join the airforce?

Hey guys, so my question is should I join the airforce? I'm not really looking for answers from the anti-American/anti democracy group lol.

Your probably wondering what would make me consider joining the airforce?

Right now I am attending college. . .I call it 13th grade its a community college and it sucks something fierce. I know this college is a total waste for me because I have no clue what I want my major to be. And in the bigger picture I don't really have an idea what I want to do when I get older.

Lets face it I'm 18, its time for me to stop fucking around and chose a path. I don't want to be strapped for cash when I grow up.

So thats where the airforce comes in.

    Pros:
    - Great on my resume
    - Great start on some sort of career
    - Awesome education. . .for free
    - Mannnyy more I'm sure

    Cons:
    - Leaving my girlfriend.

My thoughts on the girlfriend is I'm going to have to leave her for the greater good of me. We're probably not going to be together forever and I should pass up the opportunity for a better life. Don't get me wrong its going to be hard, but it would have to be done.

    Your thoughts?

    Yea thats what I'm debating.
Mmm reserve officer training core. Well I feel its too late for me to do rotc, I was just going to enlist and see where that takes me.
This is true, and yea it would be hard. As corny as it sounds, I don't want to hurt her lol.

I'm probably joining the Marines when I get out of HS.

I say go for it if it's something you want to, leaving your girlfriend would be hard though. :(

I had 2 friends join the marines. One left last year, and my other friend left the 9th of this month actually.

I haven't spoken to the recent one yet, but my other friend who's been there for a little over a year now loves it. He said bootcamp took a lot of getting used to and by the time he did it was over lol.

So far hes done 1 tour and is in the middle of his 2nd. Let me tell you. . .he's come home with some stories haha.

And yes leaving the gf is going to be the worst part

fuck yeah Marines; I'm going marines September of next year

Air Force is the more technical side of the military; it offers the jobs with the best pay and least danger in my opinion, unless you go PJ or some shit, but it's the way to go if you're a tech freak or have a desire to hit moch 3 or 4 for those future pilots out there

i think that if you're looking for a more rewarding experience in the military, you know, to see what it all really means to fight for your right, then you should go marines or navy (fuck the army, bunch of fat fucking pussies and drop outs)

but truth be told, if you know anyone who is ex-airforce/military, maybe the ROTC instructor at your college (if it's offered), you should talk to them and see what they say. it's always better coming from someone who was there, and they can point you in the right direction far better than any of these fuckers (myself included) can

best of luck in whatever you decide to do, though

Tactical Air Control Party Apprentice (Males Only)
This is a very physically, mentally and technically demanding job. It is the only true front-line combat job in the Air Force. TACPs are rich in combat experience and military tradition. All members are handpicked to ensure only the best will enter this elite career field and wear the black beret emblazoned with the flash and crest. They are highly sought after throughout the world for their combat skills, and they enjoy the best of what the Air Force and the Army have to offer. If you'd like to be in a job that is both challenging and rewarding, this is the best job in the Air Force! In this career field, you will serve as an assistant to a Forward Air Controller and be assigned to US Army direct combat units. To ensure specific ordnance or bombs are delivered on target, you will learn the systems and procedures necessary to provide the US Army and allied forces with tactical air support for ground attack fighters. You will also learn how to control and direct both airlift and reconnaissance aircraft. You will operate radios and rough terrain vehicles under field conditions and will be required to perform minor maintenance on both. To aid you in your job you will be required to learn various combat related skills such as map reading, compass usage, enemy target location, survival, escape and evasion techniques, camouflage techniques, and how to operate field convenience equipment. You will be working and living with the US Army. Due to the nature of the job you will be required to carry weapons. Members are aligned with US Army combat maneuver units and advise the Army ground commander on the capabilities and limitations of all types of air support. They are responsible for planning, coordinating and controlling close air support missions in the battle area. They operate state-of-the-art communications, target marking and navigation equipment. Members are experts navigating with map and compass, are trained in small unit patrolling techniques, utilize a variety of weapons and are trained to operate in hostile environments. Assigned to Special Forces, Ranger, Airborne, Air Assault, Armored, Infantry and Aviation units. The type of Army unit assigned drives operating methods and modes of transportation. As a member you will observe the battle area, identify hostile targets and pinpoint their locations using various types of equipment such as the Global Positioning System (GPS), laser rangefinders, and laser target designators. You are responsible for briefing the attack pilot as he enters the target area, ensuring he is aware of the target array, and all friendly positions. Clearance to attack target or "Cleared Hot" is only given when it is positive that friendly troops will be safe from the weapons effects. You will operate radio equipment and rough terrain vehicles such as HMMWVs (HUMMERS) and Armored Personnel Carriers. To aid you in your job you will learn various combat related skills such as: land navigation, artillery call-for-fire for Target Marking and Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses missions. Members will attend the USAF Combat Survival School immediately following technical school. Only those who volunteer for and graduate from airborne (parachutist) school will be assigned to Army Airborne, Ranger and Special Forces units. Other schools available to members include Air Assault (rappelling), Pathfinder, Ranger, HALO and Scuba. Members will also receive training from multi-service representatives on a wide variety of weapons. The bulk of the members are located at Army forts located throughout the U.S. and at various overseas locations. These members are presented with a special challenge; not only are they important to the accomplishment of the Army mission, but also they are highly visible liaisons representing the Air Force. All Airmen receive a short briefing on the career field during their 3rd week of training (during selection cycles only), if the Airman is interested and wants further information, he must identify himself and will receive further information. After an initial interview and a records check, Airmen will receive an appointment to the TACP Physical Training tryouts. This test is in accordance with US Army manual 21-20.

I said yes, because it would be kinda bad ass.. but you should really not ask us and ask your parents and find out everything you can (unless you already did and want some others' opinions).

    Should I join the airforce?

Well I my mom already knows that I was considering the airforce, and have a decent amount of information. Last year I spent about a week with a recruiter and did various things like the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test(asvab, basically a placement test for the military). Scored a 91 on that, then he took me to Fort Dix airforce base in New Jersey. I Got to check out the dorm rooms, the c130's inside and out. The chemical labs and a lot lot more. I was just wondering what some of the sythe members were thinking =)
ps its 7am excuse me for poor grammar wherever it is lol.
True, and the girlfriend wont be here when I come back lol

Its the airforce. . .aka the college in the sky lol. Although I do want to do something more hands on and out in the field.

Also! Jansen why you vote no!??

If ANYTHING. Airforce, that would be your safest bet. But. You have to figure out whether or not leaving your girlfriend is worth it. Are you great together? Or is it already shaky. If it isn't and you really love her, don't. Otherwise, why not?

Decide on which major you want to do, succeed, and get a higher-paid job with no risk of getting killed. That's my advice.
