How To Check If The Account Your Buying Has Recoveries!

This guide is another step to help account buyers to be prevented from a scam there falling for. Below I will tell all you account buyers how to check recoveries of an account your buying without an MM.


Situation
Your interested in account, the seller *LOOKS* trusted to you ( Has vouches, post count, and what not ). So eventually you get a hold of him, say an offer, and now the offers accepted. He says you go first, and since you trust him you do. There are now TWO ways where you will be scammed.
A)Once you've given the payment he will sign off, block you, ignore you.

B)You will log into the account and see that there are recoveries on the account and/or bankpin.



To Prevent From Falling For An Account With Recovieres

Your interested in account, you think he's trusted, etc. So the trade goes on, you ask if there's recoveries he says "No", and you also see that he has a log in page to show that recoveries are off. BUT WAIT, every single account in RS has the same log-in page, so why risk it?.

Step.1) Go to www.runescape.com

Step.2) Hover your mouse over the account option and click account managemnt.

Step.3) Go to recover a lost password

Step.4) Type in the name of the account your buying, and VOILA you will see if he has set recoveries or not!



** Now I've also heard stories that when someone is selling an account, they will also send in an appeal before you set recoveries and change password, my theory is send in an recover lost password appeal once you find out the name of the account, usually RS will reject the appeal because someone had already sent one. (IM NOT %100 POSITIVE IF IT WORKS, BUT TRY IT OUT.)**​

I can set my recoveries to be
Answer to question number 1
and those are the same as if you dont have recoveries

 

Now that people know this they now know that you can change your r4ecoveries to answer to question 1 ect :/

yea i agree with posts above. you are inanveratly aiding scammers to be able to sell their acount "without" recvos but really have it

Everyone knows how to do this, and people who didn't will just set their Recocerys as Question 1, Question 2, etc.

 

Good idea, although I already knew this.

Sometimes when you delete recoveries it still has the Last Set: [date] On the login screen.

One, this is OLD

Two, its flawed, if the person youre buying from is intentioanlly trying to scam someone (and they have a brain), they will set their recovery questions to:
Answer to recovery question 1:
Answer to recovery question 2:
Answer to recovery question 3:
Answer to recovery question 4:
Answer to recovery question 5:

But yes, send in an appeal for the account, im pretty sure that will stop them recovering straight away
