Which Music Genre "Corrupts" Children the most?

Well, ive made multiple threads on MULTIPLE sites, and it basically comes down to metal/screamo, and Rap.

Discuss why you chose what you chose, and argue your vote.

 

Music only corrupts naive kids further than they are already corrupted. It's just a faster way for them to reach zero IQ.

The only kind of kid who will act upon their music genre is one who has no personality of their own. It's an attempt to become 'part of something'.

Bad Example: I listen to emo ----> I must buy full emo gear.
Good Example: I listen to emo music, but it doesn't define my life. It is only a music genre which I happen to listen to.

Parents have a huge role in this as well, parenting these days is dumb.

P.S: I don't listen to emo music.

 

He asked for what genre you think corrupts children the most, not why they get corrupted.



Anyways, the genre I think toys with childrens minds the most is rap. It simply has too much audible vulgar and gives examples that children should not follow. On top of that they grow up with accents like those damn rappers, too. (i.e. "dem niggas be hatin' on me cuh")

Screamo/Metal is usually not audible, so anything they say will probably not be repeated, unless the kid is smart enough to look up lyrics.

 

Rap, i mean common. First of all rap is the most stupid genre and i dont see why anybody would listen to someone go "whogaboogaooga i beet up u and take u muney yo yo!!!!!!

And 3 reasons why kids grow up to be violent is.

1: Poverty (They need to rob banks and mug people to eat)
2: Bad influences (Rap music, driving by and seeing someone get mugged)
3: Bad parents (Parents that dont care about there kids all they care about is drugs and alcohol)

 

Rap, because it influences the most violence and gangs.

 

so your saying that every kid who listens to rap is gonna be a gangster or rapist when they grow up?

Music doesn't influence shit.

Kids only get influenced by the culture there surrounded in, it may make them learn a few new words though : .

 

He said it INFLUENCES them, not that as soon as you hear it you want to be in a gang. And music does influence "shit", ever hear of role models or subliminal? Music is in culture that might surround a kid.

 

The situation:

- Children listening to adult-themed music.
- Children being rebellious.

Why do we assume that there is a causative effect between those two - that listening to adult-themed music causes children to be rebellious? I find it more likely that there is a third factor responsible for the first two: Incompetent parenting.

Screamo only changes the style of what a kid wheres, people don't actually cut themselves that much. ACTUAL emos are very rare, you only see scene kids.

Rap, mainly causes kids to do drugs and under aged sex with the lyrics. Believe me, I go to a private school and the the majority of kids who listen to rap do alcohol and weed.

If you seriously voted that Metal/Screamo corrupts people is just because you probably listen to rap yourself.

 

depends what you mean by corrupt really,

screamo just makes the depressed and hate life,

rap makes them want to be black and do drugs.

 

Why am I not surprised that "Rap" was chosen the most? That pretty much shows the ignorance of the Sythe community. It's pretty sad that most people think that rap music influences kids into doing drugs and acting like "black people" (whatever the fuck that means). Most people who are posting in this thread are just posting to thrash on one genre, which happens to be rap. Music does not corrupt anyone, it is in the same boat as violent tv/games.

 

Screamo: Causes kids to be depressed.

Rap: Causes kids to do drugs, join gangs, and break the law.

In conclusion the worst people listen to rap, why? Because joining gangs and commiting crimes hurts other people. The only thing Screamo does is make a kid depressed, which only hurts themselves and doesn't hurt others in getting their stuff stolen by a crime commiter or getting another person killed by someone commiting a crime.

Screamo only causes a kid to hurt him or herself, not the town they live in.

So what I'm saying is that rap corrupts more than what Screamo corrupts. Rap does more damage than Screamo.

 

People blame music for everything, they used to blame disco, because it was eeeeevil.
Who will turn evil now if he listens to disco?
There have always been stupid people that are being influenced by the smallest things. And if somebody is already crazy, starts shooting people up AND listens to a specific type of music (like rap/metal), people start drawing conclusions very fast.

It's the weakminded that actually take music way too serious and loose themselves.

It's an obvious thing, and it's true. People try to be bad asses and act like rappers; either by dressing like them or doing the stupid stuff that rhymes.

 

The only thing to blame like aforementioned is people themselves if your dumb enough to fall into that typical stereo typing then just dont listen to music because this crap happen ands and parents dont understand whats going on then we get metal is satanic and rap makes you smoke pot well neither are true they can be somewhat in the case that they influence stereotype but other than that straight naive people.

 

Wow, im liking these results. honestly, they are about even, rap is abit higher but its very even.

 

Rap, most kids listen to it and they think it makes them cool.

Some rap gives bad ideas and bad thoughts to the kids other rap isn't that bad.

But rap overall.

 

Well I think rap would be the clear choice, but I think this thread is too vague.. Basically you could ask "Which music genre is typically less appropriate?" It's not really debatable, I think the question should be "Does music influence children's outcomes in life?" or something like that.

 

Agreed, some music though is very inspirational.

One rap artist I respect is Akon.

 

When you think about it, music really controls who you are. Rap is usually listened to by jocks, metal by skaters and other people.
