    1. I agree, it was probably because of health reasons.
    2. How do you know ANYTHING from the bible is true? You can't say "how do you know" about religion. It''s based on faith, not fact. And Joseph Smith Showed them to 13 other people, only those he could trust. He also wrote down some of the inscriptions he found on the tablets and sent them to a professor in new york to tell if they were real inscriptions. The professor verified that they were. Remember, Joseph Smith was an uneducated farm boy.
    3. We believe that after all the apostles died, the authority from god (priesthood) was not on the earth until Joseph Smith restored it.

And I didn't bring up my religion to get into a religious debate with everyone here at sythe, but to educate people before they go off of southpark knowledge. If you want, we can all have a go at me in the IRC sometime.

I doubt that mid-19th century religious pioneers knew much about the health effects of caffeine.

Faith is irrational. The instant you leave logic and appeal to faith, you concede the debate.

So Jesus was wrong when he said "the Gates of Hell shall not prevail against it"?

^read my sig? And yes I have argued with shredder before. He tends to bring up irrelevant points and debates in circles with no real knowledge of what he's talking about ;)

God did, he's the one that told Joseph Smith

    .

...then why are we arguing about religion?

No. We believe we are the revived church that Jesus established.

    So he says.

I'm trying to make you come to your senses.

Jesus built his church upon Paul, apparently, and said that the Gates of Hell would not prevail against it. He established his church, proclaiming that it would never fall, and last until he returned.

Never had a Mormon come to my door, only Jehovah's.

They are annoying, honestly.. What if I came to their house while they were eating dinner or something and started preaching to them?

Guarantee they wouldn't like it because they are hypocritical bastards.

Yes, and Jesus also said he was the Son of God. Based on your logic, he would need a birth certificate and DNA tests for you to believe he really was

You think one person on the internet is going to change my mind? Ive argued this with people at school and such.

I do not consider my church to be the gates of hell. Nor is it. And can I have the Bible passage for the it would never fall, and last until he returned part?

Yea a mission is 2 years long and i dont think to go on a mission is required but its ment to be a big experience if you do. apparently going on a 2 year mission is the same as going to church for 50 years every sunday so yea plus to go on a mission u have to be active in the church and following the rules.

Any sort of empirical evidence, really - as long as it was a bit more than "well he said he was".

Consider my arguments and logic, not the arena where the debate takes place.

I did not say that your church was the gates of hell. The generally interpreted meaning of that passage is: "I found my church upon you, Peter, and it shall never be overcome by anything". If Jesus was right, then the Catholic Church is the One True Church. If Jesus was wrong, then the Son of God made a mistake.

If your saying the mormon curch is falling in numbers it is actually gaining numbers but many are getting unactive in the church but more are coming at the same time plus it would stil be many years before jesus would come back to earth.
