[DENIED] User history

If someone's scammed in the past and people want to trade with them, that's fine, but there's definitely users that wouldn't feel safe trading with someone who has scammed or been shady in the past.

There should be a publicly accessible audit log of all the times someone's been banned (or if they vaded, audit log of their previous accounts as well) with an easily accessible button so people know who they are trading with. In addition, since @Champ denied my previous suggestion to reject name changes for these shady people, there should also be a name change log for users. People shouldn't have to sift through hours of information themselves every time they want to trade with someone.

If information is established against a user, and they clearly broke the trading rules, people should have this information presented to them in a neat manner.

Sure, people change, and that's fine, but people should be able to assess the information for themselves if they would like and make a decision.

When I supported the DnT idea, I wanted people to be able to participate in the community aspect of Sythe, and not later be able to participate in trading, without at least any mandatory mentioning of their past.

Someone can scam, ban evade, change their name, and then be a member of the trading community again. I don't care if they paid people back, they exhibited risky behavior and people have the right to know.

At the very least:

• Display some kind of user history button on everyone's profile page that shows any previous approved/won reports against them and any of their previous accounts
• Display some kind of user change history as well similar to how Steam does it

This could be similar to the "IP Audit" tool which is helpful. A similar disclaimer can be displayed where the information is not definitive (even though arguably it is in this case) and people can just have unadulterated information presented to them to examine.

I do also want to make a note that I've been banned multiple times in the past and I would not mine if people were able to see the history, because if someone is concerned at a result I can speak to them about it and provide them reassurance or an explanation myself. I don't see how this would be a negative in any situation. Obviously, if someone was falsely banned for something they could appeal to have it scrubbed.

And since I'm giving my personal experience as an example, I'd also like to mention that @Gun scammed me on one of his old vader accounts in the past and if there was a system like this it would be much easier for me to assess the situation and get paid back for his previous scams. Also, other people could come forward and have their situations rectified if they can view the history of someone, or just prevent themselves from making a trade under the false notion that a participating market member has not scammed in the past.

 

support but with one addition, this has been rejected before however i think it should be added.. and to counter the argument that it will scare away reformed traders just allow them to reply to the thread, for them to comment on the offense and explain or defend them self, this is the most fair way imo, and saying its just more work for mods.. okay buddy just resign so a mod that wants to do it can take over

another huge argument was this would stop users from refunding and pardoning however i dont think thats the case because the only users refunding and pardoning are the same users again and again that we all know are pretty much dirtbags anyways, they dont refund to be on a new slate or some bullshit they refund to troll the discord again after their bills are paid so having a history wouldnt change much for them

 

What an absolute ass argument to hide information and make it difficult for people to find.

What about name change history?

If that's the case, should we then nuke any bad mentioning of previous actions of the users? Since it's a clean slate, we shouldn't bring it up at all, right?

I mean at the very least have a disclaimer that this trading site harbors former scammers and does not provide any tools to identify former scammers, if they were pardoned according to a few staff members.

 

It's hidden to the average trader if they have to spend a very long time to speak to people to be able to find the information themselves. Even if pardons are a clean slate, that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to provide trading tools for people to use and make their decisions on who to trust with their money in a trading community.

As I said, there can be a disclaimer. It can say the user was pardoned and therefore none of the information matters, but still display it in a quicker search.

Right, it would be possible to have a searchable database of this, or even just have a search tool that searched that thread but more predominately displayed.

 

Support, but I wouldn’t be mad if they haf a funrank that publicly displayed the number of times they have scammed for example “scammed before”, “scammed twice” , and so on.

I personally would feel safer as a day to day trader. Knowing that there is a chance I could be screwed going first to said user.
If you can do something once, it’s that much easier to do it again.

 

Support. Very few people actually change. It'd be better to know their history of scam reports/pardons, so people can take precautions before trades. For example, the reports could date back to 6-12 months before deletion from track/audit.

 

A pardon is a clean slate. We want to encourage users to right their wrongs and one of the main incentives is to have your account fully restored back to its original state. Any limitations, marks or loss of privilege would discourage users. It is already rare enough for a user to repay their victim.

We already have a 'user history' to an extent, your pardon is public and all your previous offenses are kept public in the site archive. We encourage all users to do their own research on anyone they are looking to trade with.
