This is nothing short of commical to me

Didn't want to post this in other forums as it's kind of frivilous. Anyhow, read for a good laugh or just spam away.

i don't want to argue and if you think this is turning more into an arguement than a discussion then i will stop.
because we have a couple of things in common.
    we both are not religious.
i am very anti-religion. but that doesn't mean i don't assert my faith and believe that Jesus died to save me so that i could live an eternal life with his father and him.
and i also don't believe ALL of what baptists and methodist say because they pull the parts of God's word they want and give it the tiniest twist. but nevertheless, they still are mainly right in their message. and i think i might have used the wrong word when i said nonbelievers are CONTROLLED but i can twist things just like you can. and while it is true your beliefs are what you go by...you believe the doubt you had/have in the existance of God. here's another twist. you said that believers act on fear and not belief. i do act on fear. you are absolutely right. but you were saying i fear God will do something that he won't such as punish me or curse me. but God sent Jesus down to get rid of the curse so why would He curse me after putting His own son under so much torture and pain? but i don't fear that because the Bible tells us that whatever is good and perfect comes from God. and it says the devil comes to kill, steal, and destroy. the fear i act on is the fear of the devil. i don't want to be killed, stolen from, or destroyed. so following a perfect God who cannot lie, and only wants to help us is the only alternative and reasonable option. the other fear i act out on is a fear that means total submission and utter respect. just like i honor and respect my parents, i do what they say and listen to them. it's the same with God.

    but about the religion.
religion has all these rules that say they can and can't do things. religion puts restriction on what they hear from God. see, after Jesus died on the cross, his Spirit stayed with us. the Holy Ghost is what he's called. the Holy Ghost has His own language that is a gift and privalege for us to use. the devil doesn't know or understand what we are saying. so they only doubt he can put in our minds is that we aren't really speaking the language and just making up jumbles. even most people that speak it don't understand. we render ourselves to the Spirit and let it speak to God.

and yes. there are varriations of the prosperity of Christians. but do you know what the difference is? they don't speak the blessing over their lives and speak prosperity onto their lives. that is why they struggle. every day, we thank God for the money we have or need even if we don't have it because faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. so money is the substance but it is not tangible or palpable at the moment. we say that we have it and it comes everytime. just from saying and believing it, my dad's income increased about 200,000 dollars. and they couldn't be coincedence(that spelled right?) because it came as soon as we said it. a lot of Christians call things like they see it. not by what they don't say. i have a friend who has been in a tight money crisis for almost a year now because everytime someone speaks of her buying something, she says "i can't afford it. we are in a crisis." that is not what she should be saying. she should be saying "all is well. God supplies all my families needs."

Don't think I'm trying to argue, just an inteligent conversation of sorts.

So let's see. I noticed a portion of your message incinuates the fact that I might not have heard the word of God to an extent? Or might be misinformed. Correct me if I'm wrong here. I'd just like to point out that I grew up in the church. I've read the bible from cover to cover, as well as quite a few "Christian books" i.e. "Called to Live" "Mere Chritianity" and a few others. Not to sound arogant, but I know more about Christianity as a whole than most Christians. I've researched most major religions and most forms of non-relgion such as athiesm, agnotic, nilistic, etc. Long story short, I like to be diverse and know both sides of an argument.

Also, I notice you make referance to things and cite them by saying "because the bible says so." Well, what makes the bible correct? Do you have any idea how many other religions throughout history have had sacred texts that follow the same guidline? Texts long before AD. I invite you to watch this video and possibly research its points for validity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aW2N46vf4Q&feature=related

I also note that you're a believer in the "power of prayer." You're father is now making good money, congrats. A Christian somewhere just went bankrupt and lost everything at the same time when he/she specically prayed not to. You're answer to this would be something along the lines of "God has a plan for all of us"...correct? Countless studies have been done to prove prayer is mearly statistical. For this I'd recomend this video.

I'll leave it at that for now. And please don't think I'm trying to "convert" you, as people in the past have gotten offended at that thought.

i know you aren't trying to convert me because i am nonconvertable just i see you are which is fine for you and i will not try to offend you nor make you uncomfortable. as the bill of rights say you have the right. even if it was my way i wouldn't force you.

and first off. what you were saying about being bankrupt. i would not say that's God's plan for someone. because i believe that He doesn't take and He doesn't punish. He judges. yes i do believe in the power of prayer. and i know that God always answers. and our timing is not the same as His. but that doesn't mean he won't answer. and that doesn't mean He took it. because the devil has power too. He is the one who takes and hurts people.

like you were saying about the books, history books, historians, and other explorers have descovered tombs, writings, and other artifacts that have agreed that at least part of the Bible is true. now those are facts that you like and apparently appreciate.

The simple fact that you're "nonconvertable" tells me a lot about you. I for one am very convertable. I'm open to proof to come out showing me religion is the best course of action. The fact is most of your assumptions are based on something that was created to answer the difficult questions with a simple answer.

I'd like to cite this exert for you.

"1. You can find many believers who will say, "The reason why scientific experiments fail to detect God is because God must remain hidden. He does not answer prayers if he knows that he will be detected."

In order to see the truth, you need to accept that this explanation is silly. If God must remain hidden, then he cannot answer any prayers. Any "answered prayer" would expose God.

The whole notion that "God" must remain "hidden" is a total cross-threading of religious doctrine. On the one hand, believers will say that "God wrote the Bible, God incarnated himself and died on the cross for us, and God answers millions of prayers on earth every day." Then in the next breath they will say, "God must remain hidden." God obviously cannot "remain hidden" and "incarnate himself." These two items are mutually exclusive. Therefore, the explanation that "God must remain hidden" is impossible. As soon as you accept how impossible it is, you can begin to see see that God is imaginary.

In order to see the truth, you need to accept the fact that the scientific evidence is accurate and irrefutable. We have scientifically proven that God does not answer any prayers on earth. Every single "answered prayer" is nothing more than a coincidence.

We can see reality by looking at a simple example. Imagine that the rate of remission for some particularly nasty type of cancer is 5%. That means that if 20 people get this type of cancer, it is almost always fatal. Only one in twenty of the people who get the disease will survive. Knowing this, you can see what happens if we actually analyze prayer:

    20 believers contract the disease
All of them have read James 5:15, so all of them pray.
    19 of them die
The one who lives proclaims, "I prayed to the Lord and the Lord answered my prayers! My disease is cured! It is a miracle! I KNEW God would answer my prayers!"
You never hear about the 19 who died. No one ever writes about them in a magazine. "Person prays, then dies" is not a great headline. And since they are dead, you will never hear from any of these people.
Therefore, if you don't look at all the facts around the "answered prayer," and you only hear about the one out of twenty prayers that succeed, it appears that prayer is successful.
The fact is, believers who pray die from this disease at exactly the same rate as people who do not.
We can see the reality of this situation simply by opening our eyes and looking at the data. But we do have to open our eyes -- We have to look at both the successes AND the failures of prayer to see the reality of our world. When we take a scientific approach and we do look at both sides, we see what is really happening. God does not answer any prayers because God is imaginary. "

I challange you to read through this website with an open mind. Not neccesarily to "convert" you, but atleast to give you an idea of your opposition. I've read the bible, parts of the Koran, and studdied many of the worlds religions. Know your options, it makes you a well rounded individual.

i can't read that website because for me, there is no other options. i don't want to be well rounded if it means filling my head with doubts. i'm sorry but i am very vulnerable with CERTAIN things and i don't want to take a chance.

i do see the fact that saying God must remai hidden is impossible but that doesn't mean He's imaginary. God will show Himself to anyone who wants to see. yes, answering prayers will prove that he is there and not hidden. if God wants everyone to believe in him and the fact His son died on the cross, which he does, he will answer prayers and be detected. he wants to be detected.

the reason scientist can't discover him through science is because they work through the natural. God is supernatural. you cannot naturally keep up with the supernatural. it's like running a race with superman. you will never be able to keep.

    and with this cancer thing...
ok so the nineteen die, but what if they are all older people who have been saying "i'm going to get sixty good years then i'm gonna die" except for that one that lived. of course they will die. both of my grandfathers were like that. my dad's dad always said "if i live to see one thing, i wanna see my last son graduate college." after my dad graduated college, he had a heart attack and died. my other grandad used to say "if i was meant to live past sixty or seventy, my hair would be gray and i wouldn't be slow" so of course he died.
ok now lets say they are young. and everyone but that one person that lived would say little seemingly "harmless" things such as "i just died laughing" or "he tickled me to death". everytime they say that, that cancer grows a tiny bit, little by little, until they are filled with black nasty cancer eating away at they're words just because of falling subject to a "harmless" saying everyone says.

and you know what? a true believer is not afraid of dying. because God hasn't given anyone a spirit of fear first of all. and second, they know there's something better for us after we die and will be face to face with our Heavenly Father and live eternally happy and joyous.

and you can confess and pray all the time and have plenty of faith, but did you know if you have unforgiveness in your life, your prayers can't be answered. it's like standing in front of a dam trying to get wet. it's right there, but there is a humongo enormous blockage right in front of you.

and you can read James 5:15 all you want but until you read 5:16, then you won't get anywhere.
it says if you have sinned, you should tell each other what you have done, THEN you can pray for one another and be healed.

and here's another thing, have you ever asked your parents for something, and you kept asking them? didn't it annoy them and make them think you didn't believe they would get it for you? God is the same way. 1 John 1:14-15 says:
"We are certain God will hear our prayers when we ask for what pleases him. And if we know God listens when we pray, we are sure our prayers has already been answered.

so all you have to do is ask once and then after, you thank him continuously. i have noticed if you thank people continuously, they are always ready to help you because people thrive off of compliments.

if you hang around people who talk wrong, you can't recieve the way you should. and you know if those people that died thanked God that they were healed when they weren't sick, then they probably wouldn't have died.

and those people that died could possibly have only had hope for things. and not stepped into the realm of faith that they needed to survive.

You're ignorance amazes me. You know you're being closed minded by not exploring your options.

I'm not interested in responding to most of what you said as it involves quoting the bible which is not a legit source of factual information to me. As far as people dieing only hoping not being true believers, etc. I don't even know how to counter that because you make it obvious you're throwing all logic aside.

I could continue, but I see no point as all you're doing is trying to preach to me and being mindless towards the world around you. Nevertheless, you being a christian I don't expect you to give up and live knowing you could have made a differance in the whereabouts of an individuals eteniety. =) I'm done, thanks for the ammusment.

    my ignorance?
ha. don't make me laugh. i am seriously laughing out loud.

see i feel sorry for you because even if God wasn't real (which He is) it gives me something to believe in that fills me with joy. if i didn't have something to believe in that gave me hope, my life would be filled with depression and i would live by my emotions. your emotions can get you into serious trouble. science can't prove everything. for all you know, i could be 100% right and you could be all wrong.

everyone needs to have faith in something. believing in something makes days worth living, it gives people a reason to smile. not believing in God would fill my life with spiraling depression. maybe that's the best choice for you.

i wasn't trying to preach to you. i am not called to preach (i don't think). all i can do is recite to you the things that have been instilled in my life since i was born.

and of course i want to be mindless to the world around me. have you turned on the news lately? it's all terrible. it's all putting fear into people's minds and scaring them. everyone is always afraid of what will be around the corner, is someone stalking them with a gun, is a tornado going to kill everyone i know and love? of course i want to be oblivious.

i don't want options. options leave room for mistakes. big mistakes. i don't like to make mistakes. i am an overachiever that is "ocd" about certain things. of course i don't want to make mistakes. i usually don't like ultimatums and even though my parents didn't set one for me, i set one for myself.

sometimes, you just need something to believe in to help you survive. maybe you didn't, but you know how little kids are always waiting and expecting santa clause they believe in him with all their hearts. they are always trying to please him because they know without a doubt that he's always watching. God is just like that, except this one is real. this one isn't just someone trying to fool people that don't know any better.

and another thing, i am not ignorant. ignorant means that i don't know what else is out there. i do know. i just don't take them into consideration.

i refuse to call you ignorant, nor stupid, dumb etc. because how is calling you a name or giving my opinion on your faith and/or opinion going to change anything or sway your choice. that's childish and insulting people is something i grew out of at the age of five.......

i hope you have a nice life (although i don't see ho you could). see you at judgement day...

    "ig·no·rance (ĭg'nər-əns) Pronunciation Key
    n. The condition of being uneducated, unaware, or uninformed"

Not an insult. Just informing you that you're unaware and uniformed of all the options out there. You don't choose the best option, you choose the one that is the most comforting. What you say about being happy is no more to the point than a drunken man being happier than a sober one. Get over yourself.

I'll try to go about having a nice life, what with all my despair. Ignorance may be bliss, but knowledge is power.

    athiest vs. classic religous person.

"i hope you have a nice life (although i don't see ho you could). see you at judgement day... "

"the reason scientist can't discover him through science is because they work through the natural. God is supernatural. you cannot naturally keep up with the supernatural. it's like running a race with superman. you will never be able to keep."

Those are a few of my favorite lines
