Well one of the reasons is the whole Mayan Calendar issue. It doesn't actually end at 2012, it just begins a new "era". Think of it like centuries having a certain theme to them, this one I think is "Destruction" or something like it. But I'd say it's definitely possible-not like the earth exploding or anything, but I'm not sure how much patience and tolerance there is to keep going any farther. Maybe there will be fatal issues uprising then, who knows.

 

i also heard it was suppose to end in 2008, but its almost 2009 already

the world wont end all at once, it will most likely end on a span of atleast 10 years

The overall concept of anything other than a calendar ending on 2012 is just too ridiculous to even think about considering, but I'll look at it from all views.

Every calendar must end some day. Go look at your calendars, if you have one. I can bet you $50 egold, or paypal, that your calendar ends.

Does that mean that our 2ND world will be ended on that day!!??!

It's completely inconceivable to me as to how most of you even thought up such. Those scientist never met the mayans! I'd hate to say that they're just making this up, as a ploy to LOOK like they're doing something, but come on ..

Not only are they, and most of you, saying that the Mayans were future-tellers, or time-predictors, but you're not giving them enough credit, in some stances. It's just an ended calendar.

Go to wallmart, and get some wood, glue, and rope. Go to the nearest forest with a large gap in it from one side to the other.

Well Mayans calendar would end at 21dec 2012. But too bad Mayans ended long time ago before the calendar.

 

It's just one of those things made up by church to get people to belive in "god".
