Found an article about it, it's new, they posted it today.

Let me say my two cents ...

The LHC is basically just a particle accelerator. Scientists have been working with particle accelerators for years; The LHC is a massive particle accelerator - the biggest in the world, in fact.

The "Black hole" concept was adopted by the media and overblown in to drastic proportions, which has caused all of the people of little intelligence to run in to a panic. The hypothesis of a black hole appearing when two atoms collided at the speed of light was first stated in the very early 1900s (I think 1903?) and has since been disproven. The media just saw the word "black hole" and turned it in to a massive news story, which in turn gets them MONEY because so many people watched the news about it. After all, there's no news like bad news.

The entire black hole concept is a mere hoax and should be dropped. The LHC is a fascinating machine, and the results from it will be astounding. I don't see why you wouldn't want to activate it.

I consider that a very unfair accusation. Is it such a bad thing to discuss physics, even if it is with those who know nothing about it? I really quite enjoy the subject, myself.
