Hey you should explain why energy drinks arent good, because alot of people use them. AAAAAND, dont you need time to rebuild the muscle after it is destoryed while working out?

Just remember not to over-lift, causing burn outs, therefore weakening your muscles.

Meaning you need a longer time to recover? This usually happens when you increase the weight, not necessarily over-lift. Unless you mean you increase the weight so much, that it causes a burn out. But that's not what happens. If you just start lifting and jump to 100lbs benchpressing, chances are you will tear a muscle, therefore injuring yourself and not being able to weight-lift for a very long time, if ever. That's why you need to always have a warm-up set with half of your normal weight, and of course build your way up to the 100lbs.

Benwise, when you work out correctly, you don't "destroy" your muscle in any way, shape, or form. And to answer your question, yes, muscle needs rest time. So weightlifting 6 times a week, would produce the same results as weightlifting 5 times a week, since either way the muscle will need to take time to get built.

John dean, protein in food is the best way to get your protein. Although supplements may produce faster results, they are not good for you in the long run. As far as most supplements go, they "juice up" your muscle making look bigger than it actually is by saturating it with water. Which is basically what creatine does. So to answer all questions about supplements, do not take them unless you have a special allergic reaction or something that will stop you from eating meat or eggs, or any other sources of plant/animal protein. So even if you're a vegetarian, you can get your protein from beans, eggs, nuts, etc. There is no reason to take supplements. People who take supplements simply what the quick and easy way, which really tells you a lot about what type of person they are. Just like you should say NO to drugs, you should also say NO to supplements.

Those are some good supplements, Gaspari Nutrition and BSN make some good stuff, also, The Supreme Intelligence, you do break down your muscle when working out, they are tiny tears in the muscle fibre, known as microtears.

I couldn't be bothered to search through the mass of replies but did anyone mention creatine? Good guide, pretty much the basics, would probably be good to add abit about cardio, because without cardio someone who is overweight, there wasting there time if they want a smaller/more toned body just by lifting weights.

Yes we talked about supplements and creatine, cardio is important too unless you don't mind having the fat.

You actually won't have fat if you eat correctly and weight lift the right amount of times in a week. But that also depends on your age and metabolism. Wagwannadon, microtears in the muscle can not be referred to as "destroying/ breaking down the muscle". So just because weightlifting causes these microtears, you can't say that you're destroying it, which was what I was saying when I was replying to Benwise. Because those microtears form naturally to build muscle. However, getting a real muscle tear from lifting weight that is too heavy for you, or using wrong form, is in fact destroying muscle.

Correct, you can tear a muscle by using wrong form and not warming up, etc. Microtears are tiny tears in the muscle fibre when working out.

I'm working on the best workout guide that sythe will ever see. It is for my benefit but i'll substitute the weights so that my friends and sythe can use it. It is for my gym but most gyms use similar equipment.

i work out as well, and you should try not to get in the same routine every week, try changing as well or your muscles adapt to it and thats not good.

also, for teenagers, dont excess weight lift, im still growing and i dont go over + 1/2 my body weight on weights, as it can effect ur growth.

i know theres a lot of debate about if weights can stunt your growth or not, but i think they do, and its pretty logical why.

it's obvious that it does stunt your growth and theres proof behind it. You cannot throw a random number in there for what will affect you and what wont. Simply train weightless until you reach a reasonable height (5 8 or so) most gyms wont let you in until you're at least 16 anyways.

so if i'm curling 90 pounds an arm that wont effect my growth?
